But justifying it, and seeming to show support for it by saying it's worse elsewhere, so it's not that much of a problem, is basically showing it the middle finger...

Edit: Changed 'mush' to 'much', to make sense...

It's not always justification to say it's bad elsewhere.....it can also be used(as I did) to show slight mocking of those who complain about such without offering solutions time after time.

Also as some famous and infamous people have said: Bad things happen. People die or kill themselves every day, or die alone in horrible ways even without our knowledge, and have done so for years & will likely do so for many more years to come. Offering kind words just makes people feel better and helps many to avoid having to find actual solutions because that takes great effort.

Whether we all show support with words or say we don't care(online with words) makes not much difference one way or the other. Crass and callous? To a degree....but it's still the bitter pill some refuse to swallow.

(Btw I GET why it would bother you and if it offended you personally I apologize for that, if that's any consolation)

I live with family and if enough died I would likely be in a very bad situation myself, so I can get where you're coming from.

It's not funny, but last week one of our balconies gave way during a storrn. We got it fixed before anyone checked in (thank god it's a small town) but that sort of thing can reflect badly on an inn if it gets out. :P

You think THAT's bad....check out the hotel in the pic below. Now THAT's bad.

Not offended in the slightest, and not easily offended either.

It's called showing respect, especially to those affected (which I am not one of) by these incidence. Whether it is with sincerity or not, is beside the point. And it's not how many die, or how often, or whether that normalises death or not, it's how it affects those who have lost people who they were close to. But I guess this is something you cannot relate to...

NO ONE WAS IN THE ROOM! :P
And now you could bring an elephant up there. NOTHING is going to bring it down.
And TBH, it didn't actually collapse; some of the boards just started sagging indicated that a couple of the supporting logs needed to be replaced, which they were.

I really shouldn't have said anything because some people in here know my place. :P I could see the shitting hitting the fan from that.
i forgot to say I also have a wound on my behind From a Operation I had that has bin there for 10 months now just don’t want to heal :(

Hey man, we make it VERY clear on our web page that the elephant is rude and annoying, so if they show up and don't like it, that's on them!!!

That sucks. I have had my share of nasty surgeries, and some very impressive scars to show for it, but I've never really had trouble with a wound not healing. My heart goes out to you on that one, and I sincerely hope that improves.

Funniest thing was when I had a one foot incision along my back. It healed, but when the doctor came to remove the staples, he couldn't find them.
I kid you not, his exact words, "Oh well, I wouldn't worry about it." :P

You need to see a wound care specialist and ask about "negative pressure wound therapy". You'll be amazed at how fast you heal. Also, eat lots of protein (at least 60 grams a day).

First bolded bit: Subtle shaming, and I get that...I show it to people all the time, but if I don't do it one time or a few does that mean I wish those people suffered or similar or that I am a bad person? Imo it does not, but to each their own on that.

Second bolded bit: Painting/framing, and I relate to it plenty.....I have experienced loss of my own in direct family and friends, but crying over it and well wishes doesn't make death go away. I have come to terms with that and realize there are more important things to concern one's self with than wishing every person who loses someone well.

(Also a sad fact is most times we send well wishes and sympathy to people we couldn't have given much thought to while they were alive and well or still suffering....yet suddenly we care when they suffer a lot or die? To me that's just some putting on airs to follow the herd and/or get virtue points)

They are you views, opinions and experiences, and you are entitled to them

I'll say no more on the subject.

Fair enough....I just wanted to correct the record on the matter and show my stance in a clear light.

===================

Also in summary(not to you but in general): Life sucks & people die, BUT we all need to find solutions and not just give each other virtual pats on the back(which do nothing but make people feel better for a bit).

I agree they have their uses, though, and do some good....which is why I offer them myself sometimes, but ONLY when I truly mean such and not just to do such to feign sympathy because it's the traditional/"right" thing to do.
