rtcvb32: A remaster? Hmmm could be...

Overall a remaster would mostly involve higher resolutions since it's effectively a FMV game with puzzles.

Although... making it have a 3D world and doing live rendering might actually be better and FMV in certain sections instead...

Now i want to try replaying this. I remember it being annoying.
Here's a link to the remaster on Google Play.

Oh I see it the same company that made Simon the Sorecerer "remasters". What a joke.

tremere110: Would be interesting if this vanished from Steam too. I know there was a remaster done for mobile platforms - I wonder if they're bringing that here...
It is actually the other way around. They are pulling this version just to sell the remastered version on mobile. That exact situation happend with Re-Volt at least to an extent. That one also had issues with unauthorized third party content included which were probably fixed fast but to this day it is missing from GOG but available on Google play/App store :/.Cheers

Bookwyrm627: If I buy a code for it without redeeming the code, will the code have an expiration date?
avatar
Grargar: This hasn't been the case with previous removals and I don't see why this should be any different.
Previous removals have either been games I haven't been interested in, or I saw the news too late (or both), so I haven't played close attention to the details of how it works. I figured a code would still work fine, but I wanted to make sure.

elcook: Gift codes don't have expiration date.
Thanks!
I have some familiarity with The 13th Doll and it has nothing to do with Trilobyte pulling the game. I also know the devs still need to submit an application to GOG.

It is interesting that T7G is being de-listed but, T11H isn't...

It's hard to do a remaster because they don't know where the original FMV video footage is. I've actually been contacting former employees of Trilobyte to see if someone still has the original SVHS or Beta tape somewhere. It's a little fun side endeavor...

Kind of bummed that they give people ONE DAY to do something about it though...

Imagine those chances. Can't say I envy you. :)

elcook: We'd like to inform you that on Friday, March 1st we will be removing The 7th Guest from our offer due to publisher request. Everyone who already purchased it or will purchase prior to delisting will keep the game in their GOG library.
We do hope to bring the game back to GOG.COM.
Thanks for the 11th hour heads-up.

Emm... the idea is to get more old games on here, not reduce the number of those already here.

Don't quite follow why that requires the removal of the game from GOG.
Although I don't personally care for this game, it will be a shame for those wanting to get it in the future since they will no longer be able to.

Guys, seriously. News like this need to be on the main page. This is too fast for people who only sometimes read the forums. I found out about it this morning at work and wanted to buy some gift keys at least, but when I came home the game was already gone! >:(

I refer you to my previous post:

paladin181: Because GOG doesn't want to advertise it. They just want a token notification that it is happening so they can point to it and say "see? We told you"

Virtue signaling at its finest. If they really wanted to let people know, mass mailers would go out. But no one wants to openly advertise bad news like that so they don't.
I just found out about this. A bit frustrating for having it on the wishlist for a long time with the idea that i'll buy when the time is right. And then to find out that time was a few hours ago.
Oh well, can only hope it will be re-listed at some other time.
Well watched a play-through of 7th guest. Half the puzzles wouldn't be as difficult to solve if they told you the rules rather than let you bumble through it.

And the story...makes no sense.

Course 11th hour is kinda worse. Seems like a B-rated 30-45 minute movie cut into small 15 second clips you get by solving clues in the mansion.

And the clues are stupid. You're given a hint like 'fruit loop on stove', and the computer hint breaks down loop could be taken as O and stove has another name, range. so O-range. So you have to find a picture with a orange in it....

Uggg... it's... stupid... Not only that the 'computer' can just solve any puzzles you don't feel like doing.

The Steam version didn't get pulled. What a surprise.
