I didn't know there was a ban for spamming invites so for how long does it stay...

I didn't know there was one either, but what exactly is the point of spamming invites and where were they to?

This isn't Craig's List. :P
It isn't?!

So I shouldn't post on here looking for someone's feet to sniff? Or arrange a kinky threesome to "christen" someone's bed? Or talk about going to a glory hole and getting mugged of my pasty instead?

(These are all things I have found on my local Craigslist page.)

You think those are bad? On our local CL, I once saw a Pontiac Aztek for sale.

REALLY!?

I gotta check out that site more often! :D
Didn't even know this was a thing. Good to know as i've gotten invites from people I don't know, nor have ever even seen post on the site. Yeah, like i'm gonna just accept a random invite like that on the internet. I've been surfing the net since around 1999 or 2000 when my family just had crappy dail-up net and a WebTV set. Do I look that stupid? (Don't answer that lol)

Same here.

And (as was the case the last time this happened (remember the new "profiles"?)) I usually only get these after GOG sets the number of games I own to "public".

Now, I'm not gonna say there is some connection between that number put out in public and unknown guys trying to befriend me...but it sure is a hellish coincidence, that lhe latter always happens after the first.

For people wondering: the number of games you own now gets shown on the review pages (naturally applies only if you ever wrote a review).
I immediately contacted support (well, as soon as the "contact us" page worked properly again after the renewal of the site, and demanded the removal of either my review as a whole or the number of my games - and to give support credit: they removed the number very quickly.

I'd urge everyone, who also doesn't want the number of games they own to be on public display, to do the same.

Interesting.

Have you had your profile set to private before this happened? They changed displaying number of games and I think it's supposed to reflect that setting.
If you feel inclined to use the word 'spam' to describe your own behaviour, then you probably shouldn't behave that way.

Edit: I forgot to negate 'should'. Thanks, hedwards, for pointing it out.

As far as I can tell, I have no profile...none that I could access, anyway.

Example: If I hover over your avatar and click on the "view profile" link, all I can see is the good old 404.
I assume, that's the same for you, if you click on my "view profile" link!?

But apart from that:
Yes! While I still had the "forced upon me" profile, I set everything to private, that I could set to private.

However - the number of games owned, was one of the things you could not hide by setting your profile to private...we had quite a long and upset thread about that - as you may remember. ;)

Then they disabled the profiles of people like me (and you?), and all was fine again...until the very recent changes to the store.

As I said - my review (thank god, it's only one) showed the number of games I own under my avatar in that review section.

Until I e-mailed support about it and demanded a change. Which they did very quickly.

I've disabled my profile myself - there's a checkbox in privacy section of your account.
