The start of requiem 3 turned out to be truly horrid, if not for the blonde ( the Empire princess with blond hair ) or maybe because of her, 2 groups of veteran vikings, beserkers and axe men where lost to a host of Empire troops and lizardmen. Not working in collaboration btw.... The existing war front spread out over many different pockets, all with their own hard-boiled choices. The arrival of yet another group, ours, and the split-up of the biggest group, created ample opportunity for this 3 sided battleground in which ultimately we, despite the losses turned out to be victors. Now a loaded march awaits through ravaged country filled with stinking swamps and erratic patches of magical corruption

Well recently it's been mostly Renegade on pc and some of the later games on console. I haven't played the original games much these last several years, in part due to issues getting the original versions set up properly and also in part due to IRL distractions and whatnot.

Some day I plan on getting the new collection and giving it a whirl, though.

Some serious and addictive MM6 vibes with that game!

You've got that right! I haven't played in a few days because I know if I do, I'll lose track of time and end up playing for hours. I'm going to try to finish up at least the main quest this weekend and get into the Islands of Fire and Ice expansion next weekend.

Why are gridders so damn compelling and addictive?

I fuckin' love 'em, ironically MM6 wasn't even a gridder, yet The Quest really feels like that game, maybe because of the cut-out 2D hand-drawn characters/mobs and the game loop, but yeah, the only way they could top that game would be to add party members!

The only way they could improve THAT game is to make it a gridder, I love the Nep-Nep series, I wish the rest would make it over here!
