Oblivion

Narrator : Jauffre wants to lead Martin to the Cloud Ruler Temple, the fabled headquarter of the order of the Blades. Only there he thinks the future emperor could be safe.

Jauffre : Let's go men there is no time to waste.
Archus : Yeah, let's go to wherever it is !
Martin : Wait a minute, there's no 3rd horse ?
Jauffre : unfortunately the 3rd died during the assassins raid , but Archus told me you were pretty used to running now
Martin : sigh the Nine are really testing me ...

Narrator : The travel took a long time, and it was never a safe one : daedras constantly ambushed the trio.

Archus : Ah ! we got them all !
Martin out of breath from running : Huff huff huff .. By the Nine, it's not easy to fight when you're out of breath constantly after all that running.
Jauffre : You should try to fight with an arrow in your shoulder, the pain is excruciating.
Archus trying to look innocent : Damn, those daedras archers are everywhere.

Narrator : But despite the rigors of the battle, Archus had a good time travelling around.

Archus : Looks nice around there.
Jauffre : Yes we are blessed by the Nine for the beauty of this world.
Martin out of breath from running : Huff huff huff .. yeah the landscape .. huff huff .. is pretty around there ... huff huff ...

Narrator : The group was reaching the mountains , the land was noticably changing.

Archus : Everyone is still there ?
Jauffre : Yes, no problem at all and not even tired.
Martin out of breath from running : Huff huff huff ... damn you both.

First screen, Bro. Martin's facial expression seems to match your dialog, lol. Nexus Mods has mods that allow Oblivion NPC followers to ride a horse of their own or have their own horses.

Narrator : Snow is covering the Cyrodiil mountains, the group is still progressing toward the hidden temple.

Martin out of breath from running : huff .. huff .. are we still far ... huff ... huff .. from the temple ?
Jauffre : not that much my liege, the summit is not that far anymore, stay strong.
Archus : see Marty, told you it was near that Bruma city, so stop whining .

Narrator : Soon they reached the mysterious Cloud Ruler Temple in which the Blades greeted them.

Jauffre : We arrived friends, hear my order Blades and make way for the future emperor.
Martin trying to regain his breath : Huff ... huff ... AHHHHH FINALLY THIS HELL IS OVER ...
Archus : Such a cool place, finally a bit of rest for the horses after this long travel.
Martin thinking to himself : Damn you guys.

Narrator : The Blades were now assembled in the main court of the Temple to hail the new emperor, Martin Septim.

Archus : I notice that the guy did nothing and still they acclaim him as if he was some big gun.
Narrator : Martin is the last son of the late Uriel Septim , it makes sense that he inherits the emperor rank as prescribed by the imperial law.
Archus : Yeah, yeah another case of blatant nepotism and those nepo babies makes it a law to ensure they stay in power forever....

Narrator : After making a speech in front of the Blades, Martin walks to Archus.

Martin : The Nine had put me into a strange ordeal my friend, but i still live thanks for your help.
Archus : Thanks for your massive plot armor you should say, you died a dozen times already since Kvatch and the Nine brought you back everytime.
Martin : Well, such is the way of the Nine, who are we to try to understand their migthy work ?
Archus : Sure, do you know if there's a king spot available somewhere around now that the emperor one is taken (damn nepobaby )
Martin : Unfortunately every ranked spots are already taken, but see Jauffre maybe he has something for you.
Archus : Thanks for nothing as usual ...

Narrator : Leaving Martin to his welcome party , Archus went to talk to Jauffre

Jauffre : against all odds you proved instrumental to this, you managed to save and bring the new emperor back alive.
Archus : yeah yeah, that's cool and all, but what's the reward Jauffre ?
Jauffre : huh .. ah yes, with the recent trouble we lost some Blades, so there's a spot in the order for someone like you Archus.
Archus : is the pay good ?
Jauffre : of course duty and honor are a reward in themselves, but hey take this good sword it will serve you well.
Archus : sigh ... and all i got was this lousy katana... oh well.

Narrator : Leaving Martin, Jauffre and the Blades in their hidden temple, Archus travelled to the nearby city of Burma.

Archus : At least i'll probably meet some nice people in there and hopefully money from selling all that loot i'm carrying.

Narrator : Archus entered some houses to meet with the locals

Archus : Hello woman, how is life around there ?
Arnoria Auria : ...
Archus : ...
Arnoris Auria : Leave now.
Archus : Ok

Narrator : During his visits around the city Archus ran into a crime scene, a body was lying dead on the bed and the guards were investigating.

City Guard : A vampire hunter killed this vampire, but his wife is saying that her husband wasn't such creature, we're a bit puzzled.
Archus : Oh it's time for Detective Archus to shine !
City Guard thinking to himself : Great another idiot going to do our job for free, time to visit the tavern and get drunk.

Narrator : Investigating around and asking the city folks, Archus decided to visit the Countess of Burma for more information about her city.

Archus : Those Burma guys have such strange taste in statues

Narrator : Inside the castle Archus met the Countess Narina Carvain, the ruler of Burma.

Archus : Hello woman, how is life around there ?
Countess Narina Carvain : ...
Archus : ...
Countess Narina Carvain talking to the guards : Can you stop allowing every moron to just go and talk to me without being invited.

Narrator : Archus was a bit puzzled on where to find new clues, so he went to the tavern in which he spotted a City Guard sleeping drunk in a corner of the room.

Archus : Hello everyone, a free beer to anyone that can give me a clue to progress my investigation !
Olav : My good man, i have a key to the vampire hunter bedroom and he isn't there , 2 free beers and it's yours.
Archus : Ah finally my superior detective skills proved their worth !

Narrator : Visiting Skingrad, Archus is meeting new people.

Glarthir : Talk to me man ! i'm super suspicious !
Archus : Ok goodbye.

Narrator : Archus swiftly moved to another street and met an herborist with some knowledge about daedric lore.

Falanu Hlaalu : ... and that's what daedras do.
Archus : Oh interesting, i must go now.
Falanu Hlaalu : Wait a minute , i have an important question to ask you !
Archus after listening to the question : ...

Archus walking away : What the hell is wrong with the people in Skingrad ?

Narrator : Archus went then to the tavern to rest a bit.

Archus : Finally some relaxing time, no more of those crazy Skingrad people to annoy me.

Else God-Hater : Ahhh ! You ! Listen to me !
Archus : ... sigh, another nutcase.

A trader ship in Everspace, but I have zero funds to buy fuel and so this might be a short run. Apparently Everspace 2 is a campaign based game and so wouldn't require repeating progress as in Everspace. Nonetheless, Everspace might have the most appealing depiction of space of any game I've played. An actual black field with white starts. And Everspace runs like silk on almost any old graphics hardware.

Narrator : Listening to his good heart, Archus decided to help poor Glarthir from the previous report to find who's trying to make his life a living hell.
Archus : Well, he told he would give me 150 gold , that's good money .
Narrator : sigh .. Archus i was trying to make the reader see you on a more positive light.
Archus : Oh sorry man, so yeah i'm helping Glarthir only from the goodness of my heart !

Narrator : Following the woman that Glarthir pointed him to, Archus used his best stealth abilities to spy undetected.

Archus : ... She sure is busy.

Narrator : The whole day was spent like that and Archus couldn't help but notice the woman was a hard worker in the vineyard and the winery manufacturing the Skingrad Wine.

Archus : Seriously when is she going to go with her evil plot ?

Narrator : And then the woman, after a hard working day, went back home while the night was coming.

Archus : Can't believe i wasted a whole day like that.

Narrator : A rather furious Archus went back to meet Glarthir in the cover of the night.

Glarthir : Hey Archus so did you see the nefarious plot that person was making to make my life more miserable ?
Archus : What the hell Glarthir ! you just make me follow a woman for a whole day and in the end she has nothing to do with whatever you're imagining.
Glarthir : Huh ? i think you misunderstood, i told you to follow that man not that woman.
Archus : Ok, i'm taking my bow now and will put an arrow between your 2 eyes.
Glarthir : Wait wait ! here's 150 gold, and there's more if you accept investigate that man over there.
Archus : Great, you could have started with this, consider it done.

Narrator : Archus goodness of heart spoke again...

Biting vampers!

It's always amazed me how many players are into vampire content.
It seems you like Oblivion enough to stick with it. Will you play it again, sometime, being a mage or a warrior?

Might be a 1980s thing. I don't know too many folks from that era who don't like cheesy vampire content. ;-)

First time i completed Oblivion it was with a warrior type of character (not the class itself, just my character was melee-ing everything).
Never played as purely mage though, on further playthrough it was more of mix between melee and some magic.

I went with a bow for a change this time.

But time for Oblivion

Narrator: Pursuing his mission as a recent member of the Blades, Archus travelled to the Imperial City, capital of Cyrodiil.

Archus: Time to climb up the ranks, not going to get promoted if i continue to listen to nutcases.

Narrator: The Imperial City was majestic and so large in comparison to the other cities Archus visited.
Archus: Yeah yeah, it's not going to make finding my targets easier, it's just too big they were forced to separate them in quarters.
Narrator: Just follow your compass, can't get lost with those obvious quest arrows.
Archus: Still need to walk, at least i need to get into a tavern, so it's not all that bad in the end.

Narrator: In the tavern, Archus was looking for Baurus, the emperor bodyguard that he met during his prison escape

Archus: Ha ! here you are man.
Baurus: What ! another assassin from the Mythic Dawn ! you'll pay like your friend down there for what you did.
Archus: Hey Baurus ! Calm down it's me Archus, you remember the prisonner that went along your group ?
Baurus: Hmm, oh wait ! you mean the guy dressed as a Mythic Dawn assassin and that i found right next the murdered emperor body ? the guy that ran away just after that ?
Archus: Well, ok that was probably not my best day, but i'm part of the Blades too now same as you. Jauffre sent me, and oh i found and saved Marty the new emperor.
Baurus: Let me see your recommendation letter, that's so stupid i really need confirmation of your bullcrap.

Narrator: After everything was cleared, Baurus explained to Archus what would be his next step.

Baurus: So you go meet that Tar-Meena and get more information on the Mythic Dawn cult, so we can have an idea where's the Amulet of Kings can be.
Archus: Seems complicated, but if the pay is good i'm going to give a try.
Baurus: ...

Narrator: On his way toward the Arcane University, Archus found himself in the Arboretum district.

Archus: What a nice place, would be even better without all those statues and trees.
Narrator: Archus, that's the whole point of the Arboretum district.
Archus: Yeah, but still without all those things slowing me down i could already be at the Arcane University.
