Battle Brothers

Respite was short because the nobles houses started another war between each other for a 4th crisis.

This time it's the nobles owning the part of the world the company consider its base of operation versus the noble house that absolutely hate us since half a year.

So the choice was quickly done : we would make even more money joining House Gunbald while continuing making money from looting House Eisenstein territory.

One of the Gunbald Count tasked us to reinforce his army that was holding the frontline against a big offensive from the enemy.
Once on location we had to kill a scouting party from Eisenstein and convince some Gunbald deserters back (they gladly accepted in exchange of keeping their life).
And finally the big battle happened, the armies of Gunbald and Eisenstein clashed, with our glorious company in the middle.

Quickly a good omen happened, for some reason a swan landed right on top of the helmet of the knight commander of the Gunbald army, some folks may have found this ridiculous, but after all the grim and the gritty we saw in this world this could only mean that we were chosen ... somehow.

The battle was bloody and we lost Rudolf one of the veteran warrior of our campaign, a sad day, but fortunately the mercenaries didn't stayed sad for long when the Gunbald Count finally delievered us our bloody hard earned big money.

One drink for the memory of good old Rudolf for his heavenly rest !

Battle Brother

To keep them in line, parents often told their children about a powerful bandit king named The Wolf , he was so strong none could stop him so if the children didn't came back home before the night, The Wolf would eat them.

The bandit king knew of his own legends, and enjoyed the terror in the eyes of his victims. So when his bandit group ran into our company, it is with a vicious smiling grin that The Wolf took his mace in hand and rushed to kill the company members.

Only to be met with a mace and a warhammer that crused his face and head into nothingness.
Such was the end for The Wolf

Funnily after crushing The Wolf and his band of merry clowns , the company was tasked to hunt actual wolves, Direwolves to be more precise. Switching around their equipment before going to the hunt, using spears walls to prevent those pesky animals to overwhelm us with number, we collected a lot of good selling wolves skins this day.

Later, from the Gunbald noble house, the Duke himself tasked us to put their enemies, the Eisenstein house, into a difficult situation in order to sow the seed of their defeat in the war.
When the commander of the company saw the promised crowns, he obviously gladly accepted the contract.
We did a splendid job , even evading an army sent specifically to catch us, and the Eisenstein territory knew these days of the true terrors of war.

And the company became richer for this.

When Henry is high leveled and get to the tournament side quest, beating that treacherous bastard is one of the satisfying part of the game, master striking easily (due to Henry's levels at that point) that guy in the face is always a great feeling :D
Even more satisfaction than destroying that Runt guy strangely.

But after beating him i noticed i forgot those antidote potions that i had stacked in my chest, damn such a stupid mistake and the health was going down and down noticably.

Fortunately the Bath Lady wasn't too far and the provided healing that saved Henry's day after hurrying up there with the horse.

So uh.. I'm not sure if we're allowed to talk about this on the forums but I thought for funsies I would try out Winlator. I loaded it onto my crappy Android tablet from 2024 and my Samsung S25+, and figured, why not try out Resident Evil 0?!

Well, it was definitely an experience lol. RE0 was actually playable on the S25+ at 1080p (original res of the screenshot is 2340x1080) meanwhile the tablet was just... lol. The pic speaks for itself. I'm sure I could get more fps for the S25 but I'd rather not play that on tiny screen. That being said, it's really wild to see how much Winlator and its spin offs have improved.

O.K. I downloaded both versions just to be safe.
Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered

Love this series. The remastered is great with improved new third persona camera. Some find the stories of these games confusing, which they can be, but I love it and the Shakespearean type of writing. If only we could get Blood Omen remastered with improved camera and QOL features.

Kingdom Come Deliverance

Tasked with infiltrating, scouting and sabotaging a big bandit camp at Pribyslavitz and probably winning the whole war by himself, Henry is currently roaming around the camp at night + it's raining (and Henry have the hiding bonus in rain)

And with his very high sneaking stat and level , Henry is very close to actually win the war by himself lol , making a carnage stabbing bandits everywhere and hiding their bodies in the darkness.

Spotting around, Henry came to regret that weight is a thing in the game, so many tons of armors and weapons from the killed bandits he could drag back to merchants and make a truckload of money out of them, but sadly can't because it's too heavy.

Only sad thing in that quest is that even if the player manage to kill massive piles of bandits (due to them respawning on zone when you're away) in there, the incoming battle will still see the same amount of them inside (unless you managed to poison and destroy the arrows stock that will reduce their number slightly).

Anyways, the first time i did that mission was with much lower stealth and level stat.
Redoing it with noticably better stat and level nearly play like a Thief level :D

Kingdom Come Deliverance

After reporting back to Lord Radzig and bringing news to Lord Divish to get his support troops, Henry joined the army for the final assault on the bandit camp at Pribyslavitz

While not as large scale as a good mount&blade battle , there were enough fighters to make it feel chaotic
Lord Radzig was charging ahead of the army, good for him to have a scripted plot armor because that would have been a sure way to get killed.

Henry smartly followed from a distance, then rushed into the melee once he was at the side and back of the enemies, slaying many of them due to his high stats , those poor bastards.

During the battle a few enemy archers showed up, despite i sabotaged/destroyed all their arrows stock previously, seems the game forgot that , and i was then tasked to take those 3 guys out.
Henry just did that thanks to very good bow and stats and as a result the "deal with the archers" task was then marked as "failed" , looks like a bug but fortunately it didn't impacted anything and the battle resumed.

It was rather hilarious on the last section when a bunch of bandits came to reinforce their losing army, only to all run away after one of their guys was struck down. Maybe related to me poisoning them the night before ?

Anyways, once the battle was settled, Henry ran after that Runt bastard for a classic 1 on 1 fight
Poor Runt this time there were massive stats difference from the early game Henry
So he wasn't fighting Henry the Weakling like in the early start of the game, but Henry the Terminator. now , and as expected Runt went down like a pile of garbage after Henry stabbed him enough before crushing his face against the ground for additional hilarity.

Victory was good with only minor losses (i assume thanks to the night sabotaging mission).

Reinstalled good old Freelancer for another playthrough (i reinstall it nearly every couple of years)

Always such a very good game.
Even if the visuals have aged a bit, the're still very functional and the gameplay is still excellent even without mods.
Trent is always the same cocky bastard :D

I hope gog will finally get to it (it's no1 voted on their dreamlist) so people that may have missed the cd back in the days will be able to enjoy it soon enough.

Look at that! I found an, out of the way, area, where a golbin is riding a mine cart, like a roller-coaster of sorts!

The game is Flare: Empyrean Campaign.

Recently learned that GZDoom ceased development last year, and its successor by mostly the same developers has been named UZDoom.
https://doomwiki.org/wiki/UZDoom

It's been a while i didn't launched some doom wad, i decided to give this UZDoom a try
Using the latest Brutal Doom , i tested its new addition " Horde Mode " and it was some rather intense pile of fun, several waves , boss waves etc...

That Horde Mode addition of the Brutal Doom mode is really excellent when you don't have much free time and still want an action packed 5 mn of crazy shoot out , the thing delivers.

And hilarious in my last attempt, during a boss wave i was so focused on bigger threats that i didn't noticed my doomguy was just gunned down by a most basic zombie with his weak pistol :D

I wasn't aware John Romero had released a sequel to his SIGIL doom episode +/- 2 years ago , SIGIL 2

It comes similarly to SIGIL as a free episode or a commercial one (commercial version include music+goodies)
https://doomwiki.org/wiki/SIGIL_II

good way to test UZDoom more.

From the 1st map i see that it follow the "hunt for the hidden eye" system that was in SIGIL in order to progress trhough the level with some nasty areas , i liked the "cross that narrow path while bombarded by imp fireballs hidden in dark areas" :D

Still lots of fun like SIGIL was.

Freelancer

Havng to escape the Liberty sector due to some "misunderstanding" , Trent is now settling in the Bretonia sector, roaming around the Leeds system and doing missions to improve his reputation, bank account and level until the next call from his contacts about the spoiler.

New system, new ship and new guns, life can't get any better in order to make money when Trent is on the run .

edit : huh ? pictures aren't attaching anymore ?

edit 2 : it now works !
