Replaying Sniper Elite 4 campaign (not GOG version, cause GOG do not provide one) for the joy of shooting people from a long range.
Now, I don't know if it is just my luck or there were some changes to the game since I last played it, but during this playthrough these unfortunate Germans who walked into my crosshairs seems to be really upset about being shot...

Battle Brothers

The mercenary life attract all kind of men, our strongest and sergeant of the company , Walter is one of them.
Flagellant can be insane, especially when other guys of the company decide to " help " them.

Anyways, we achieved another ambition, enough money to finally get some wagon in order to carry more loot from battle to marketplaces

And it was then that the noble houses finally decided that enough was enough and declared war on each other, one would worry about this.
But not the Battle Brothers, as this opened a whole lot of new opportunities, dangerous ones but worth good money.

A contract with a town seeking a relic of their past saw us return to the ancient graves location, in which we battled some ancient legionnaries skeletons and had to retreat to avoid joining them in undeath.
But this time the company members were much better equiped, much better protected and the mercs were noticably stronger overall.
The ancient bones were lying all other the filed after the battle.

Picked the relic and brought it back to town
Times are changing but the war between the nobles is hurting the regular people as usual.

Battle Brothers

The company is now getting involved in the war between the noble houses, because there's some big money there.
We're now working directly with the House Bartholin, as they rule the main towns we've spent time contracting with.

The only issue is that we're getting blocked from entering the other noble houses cities now, but it's not like we visited often over there.

On a contract from the Count Reinhardt Von Bartholin we joined the siege of Horngard , a city ruled by another noble house.

We defended the camp from an external attempt to break the siege , then we could resume the waiting game and join the Bartholin troops in the final assault when they were ready for it.
It was a bloody battle but we ended conquering the town for House Bartholin.
Sadly we lost 2 of our good warriors in that battle, but on the positive side, that's 2 less mercs to pay , such is the grim reality of the mercenary life.

Later we were patrolling the borders of the Bartholin territory and ran into one of their company being attacked by a superior number of enemy soldiers from another noble house.
We joined and reversed the course of the battle with our own troops, for glory and loot !

The fight was big but again our company prevailed (managing to surround their leader knight helped, especially as our sergeant Walter and his fancy noble looted helmet was an unstoppable murder machine.

We saved the Bartholin troops and destroyed the enemy, giving us greater renown and some good loot, including better equipment that would be useful in the future.

Battle Brothers

On some patrol duty in the north of the Bartholin territory , we ran into another allied band of mercenaries that were in a rather difficult situation : they were being under attack by an army from the northern noble house, outnumbered 2 vs 1

With us joining, the battlefield was then equal, a very big battle was now happening.

The Greens had noticably superior equipment, that was going to get very though, to gain some time and protect our mercs advance, our company released all their war dogs to put the balance in our favour, those brave dogs died for the mercenaries to live !

In the end the battlefield was full of corpses, it was the biggest carnage since the Battle Brother company started their business, but the loot was good and the pay even better.
And we prevailed ! only a few survivors in the allied band of mercs but they lived to get some more profit for themselves so everything was good.

We managed to capture the helmet of the enemy commanding knight on his corpse, great as with some repairs they're very strong helms.

Sigurd was struck down but miraculously survived, the guy must have nine lives like a cat, but unfortunately Bodo, a deserter than joined us long time ago was slain, he was a good warrior and will be missed probably by someone somewhere.

Learning of our glorious rescue, the House Bartholin is starting to get friendly with us, good for business

Walter, our sergeant wearing the helmet of another enemy commander was again a monster in that battle, killed 79 people since he was part of the Battle Brother.
Such a bloodlust can be concerning, but for a mercs company it's plain great.

After the annoying propaganda of Deus Ex Mankind Divided, I quit and fired up a true Good Old Game, the original Far Cry from 2004. Now able to run on a potato, it can be set to max across-the-board and still run at 200 fps. Here is the beached carrier and the first island, displaying the generational improvement in graphics Far Cry brought back then. Still look impressive to this day.

Battle Brothers

The company has been running for a long while, maybe too long for the commander himself.

We got new people joining, new people dying, some survived to thrive in the company while other lived only to suffer crippling injuries for the remnant of their lives.

But we always honored our contracts, as they were a good source of money, and the commander was always telling how much absurd amount of money was needed to keep a band of mercenaries running.

But what a life it was , recently we faced impossible odds stacked against us when we became part of a big battle between the noble house employing us and their nemesis, we weren't told that we would be outnumbered and the enemy better equiped.
I suppose the Greens wanted vengeance for the time we killed one of their knight company.

But to make money another day the mercs needed to survive and running away from ridiculous odds is a valid plan, the noble houses can noble whatever they want but we weren't paid enough for this.

Still that wasn't all, and i think what put the decision in the commander head was when we ran into an old and stranger reliquary , promising such incredible loot.
Only to be a massive trap set by otherworldly powers with insanely powerful monsters, tentacles pushing everyone and around strange sorcery exploding poison and decay all around.
We lost half the troops and had to run away in terror.

When the noble houses war finally reached an end, the commander made the decision to retire and leave the company to us if we were willing to continue, of course he didn't left empty handed and considered retiring with fame, money and his life was a victory for himself.

On a whim, attempting a second playthrough of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat. It helps having played this unique FPS once before but didn't finish it then. This is the original version, not politically corrected to eliminate USSR imagery as done with the enhanced edition. As for the English voice acting, yeah, it's way off but that gives it and the whole game additional charm.

Running a new game , i ran into a rare situation in which we are 3 squads vs 1 , outnumbering slightly more than 2 vs 1 the opposite side, and that enemy squady wasn't really strong to start with (the brigand raider was the only threat at that point of the game) .

I like these odds , to bad it's so rare to be in favour of my team that much :D

This is must-read forum posts.
I'm playing through Lovish (which is how it is spelled).

What I find really interesting that I think would help people evaluate games as an art form
would be how it integrates a finite number of lives. I'm used to Super Meat Boy's design
philosophy that embodies the identity of Team Meat's super-hero boy. Unlike that blob of meat.

Lovish has a particular, and cognitive protagonist. He's sort of unlikeable but since they do die
you wish they wouldn't be in peril.

That type of commitment is what I think make gamers a diverse pool of people.
You can be virtually any type but if tasked to achieve a certain goal, we're the type to depend on.

I have a code to use at the end of the game; during the credits. It mimics the Konami code..

After the rather disappointing Necromunda I now play RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business.

1. pic: The wet dreams of rich and powerful arseholes...
2. pic: Time to serve some justice...
3. pic: If in a hurry, low on health and the enemy is wearing Kevlar helmet and vest: Aim for the unprotected parts...
4. pic: Even Robocop needs to relaxe some time.

Having learned better the systems and mechanics of Battle Brother with my previous campaign, i've been running a new warband for nearly 200 days

Much less losses (tough still an important one in a recent battle) and that warband hold its ground much better.
I avoided taking side during the noble house crisis this time, it probably helped as i could do more contract around the world instead of being banned from hostile cities until the war was over.

Anyways recently went on a mission contracted by a noble to destroy a far away goblin camp
The goblins had setup a trap and so my warband was ambushed.

Usually tough situation, excepted that this time, and it's rare enough to point it, my troops were spawned on top of a hill, meaning my crossbow backliners were having a field day shooting and hurting/killing goblins (height advantage give % bonus)
Then my strong armored shock troops moved closer for the kill.

While going back we crushed a bandit warband that featured a named leader, i pitied them when the rain of crossbow bolt hurt those guys enough so my front liners could hack, slash and cut them , their leader left a good helmet behind, joining my collection

Later during some night camping one of our soldiers, a former anatomist, still was experimenting around , he managed to give PTSD to poor Markolf :D
