Welcome back, Commander

apparantly i have a tendency to enjoy torture. though, torture in a Terry Pratchett sense.

In one of his books, he describes one of his entourage figures as someone who tortures you to death with a silken glove

this is what i think Andromeda offers with its start. As it stands currently, i played the game for about 250 hours or so and i never managed to finish the campaign I played normal, i played hard, i played very hard.... No matter the difficulty i always die during the starting hours on the same places. So ridiculous, i mean, later on I rarely die anymore, though i might during those segments i never visited.

This is something i find very very weird.

Total War is another of such titles, even after the thousands of hours i spend playing total war titles i manage now and then to not get past turn 20.

Mind you, i play for myself. I managed to get rid of those youngster ideals and replace it for genuine fun.. or at least i hope that it is genuine.

Souls like type of games really speak to my little boy in a sense of what i find 'cool' since a young age but, mechanically speaking. yawn

Bioware's lost story

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
Playing the 40k megamod and its Rosigma expansion for X-Com: UFO Defense ( through OXCE )
Really impressive mods with so many content, multiple factions to play with their own units and vehicles, and truckload of enemies of many types.

On the screenshot i'm currently on an Imperial Guard campaign, currently on a PDF Defense mission, and looks like the enemy here are chaos space marines, it could be worse but that's still very bad news :D

Civilization VI (EGS version which is DRM free)

I got Civilization 2, 3, 4 and 6. However... the best Civ overall is still Civ 2 on PSX, this version was special on how they designed it (it truly is pixel art), better than the PC version. Second on my list of favorites is Civ 4 (GOG version) and Civ 6 is actually third on how i would rate it. Every Civ got its pros and cons of course but higher complexity is not necessarily a bonus... being charming is more important. Yes, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri is great but it is not directly part of the main series, rather a spin off, so i do not consider it.

Full quality (1080P, PNG, lossless): Civilization-VI-DX12-2025-01-13
Host: https://ibb.co

Low quality (1080P, JPG, 60% compression): Attachment hosted by GOG

Besides i dunno whats up with the GOG upload, it does not work for me. Not surprised... it was always dodgy. Not even a error message, it just fails to work.

Apparently the forum does not accept more than a certain size, which i absolutely dunno how big it is: It is not 2 MB, it is way lower. All i can say is, according to the data of other users it will not accept above 512 KB which is indeed close to no data for the current age of 4k, even 1080P will need a reduction in quality, which is about 60% of JPEG format°°. It will weaken sharpness and colors at such a high compression. °°Actually forget about 4k... just use a compressed 1080P there. We have users with major concerns related to "external links" thats why it is useful... but just as i said... it will not provide any serious quality this way.

500 KB exactly. Well, 488 KB realistically (~2.4% lower) as the limit is on the actual size and not the one we humans generally use (1 MB = 1024KB, not 1000). Not a byte more or it won't go through.

The best way is resizing the image instead of compressing it. And of course, use .jpg instead of .png.

I was trying to resize it but on 720P scaled up to 1080P the results was not any better for me... perhaps my upscale algorithm sucks. Well... full quality is provided by link and the others simply go click the "low quality one".

I know, those AI hardware are telling us... even at 480P (16:9) we get the same quality on 4k by using it. It does not exactly work like this but at least we got our dreams. Reality is, on 480P (16:9) vs. 4k there is about 20 times lesser pixels, so the AI got to "estimate" 19 pixels out of 20 pixels, which will never be able to become accurate to the "real thing". As higher the native resolution gets as bigger the accuracy by using AI.

"Perhaps these words will be lost in time, but i must write them. The date? I cannot say. I know it is the month of June in the year of 1695. I thought we would be safer in Providence. I thought we would finally see the children again, and the golden wheat fields would ring with their laughter.

Their mother now lies dead, and i shall join her soon. Something insidious walks the road. Terrible spirits took us. New Eden is cursed. You who reads this now, i tell you: run."

Use xnconvert. It's opensource for windows. It shrinks downs the image's file size by letting you determine the visual quality with a slider.
