With the new economic update 2.0 i was curious to see what would happen in the city...
As earlier predicted, we had a death wave concerning the elderly. We lost many many people to horrible circumstance. Though in the aftermath childbirth and migration were booming, raising the inhabitant to well over its previous number. I think this had something to do with the criminal landlord organisations finally dealt with, not to mention, corrupt state officials. With those out of the way, citizens across town stood up in previous unthought ways clearing the way for expansion and improvement. Of course this fact also meant a lot less money flooding towards the city treasury effectively loosing more the half of the income. With a 100k an hour, this amount is still absurd high therefore i'm looking for more ways to support the cities needy be it with social work or a larger choice in workplace. Also, parking spots and public transportation are free for the time being! \o/
There's also been a change with the traffic flow. Suddenly there's been an uplift in traffic jams, which of course will be dealt with after a decent review of the transportation commission. Another change was the amount of workers needed in the commercial sector, i did not check the industrial but i did notice that the business sector went unchanged with many high-risers only asking for 3 to 5 office workers per building. I suspect this will be dealt with after paradox's summer recess.
On a more personal note i again found myself at odd's with the given nature of this particular city simulator. One thing i have a lot of trouble wrapping my head around is the choice for separate day and night cycle as opposed to the ongoing city simulator. Maybe this choice is outlined in one of the many dev diaries explaining how the player should perceive this, for now i just try to reconcile myself with the thought that while the simulator is not what i expect of it, it does try to simulate an environment. Which may or may not be the most important feature. Still rush hour or better said a working inhabitant life cycle is so important when creating a city. Choices in construction and road lay out become so much more blablablablabla
For now i've decided to focus on getting my very needy for walking inhabitants around with more roads for walking, ?
