I just bought SS2 from amazon.com.The seller never mentioned it would need additional downloads in order to run on my machine (Windows 7 Professional x64) The knuckleheads only stated it may or may not run. :/
I have downloaded Dosbox trying to figure it out so I can play this game,
No luck getting it to run as of yet.Dosbox seems like the best way to go to get this up and running because I tried the other way with using SS2'extra downloads and updates. It refused to run in any of the compatible modes, even the one it was made to run on! Yet it installed with out a problem, even asked if I wanted to play.Which I clicked and waited 20 minutes, nothing happened so I ran a diagnostic and all compatibility modes state incompatible!!! Even after doing everything stated I needed to do to get the game to run on a newer machine. :( My PCs specs state I have more than the minimum requirements, yet the diagnostic states my video and sound card are not up to par, which is pure BS as I can run higher end games like StarTrek Online and many others with no problems! At least the seller refunded my money! :P
This disk is brand spanking new,not a single scratch or smudge on it anywhere! I was told this game is so rare now and the condition it's in,it's worth some major bucks to some of you hard core old school gamers like me.If true I may just sell the damn thing if I can't get it to work! :/ If anyone is interested in buying it make an offer (decent) please.
If anyone can or is willing to help me get this sucker working I would greatly appreciate any help! I'm pretty tech. savvy yet I have been messing with this for two days and going blind and a little batty from it not working as it should after doing everything I have been told to try. :P
I also bought Demon Stone at the same time,it runs onn the same OS as System Shock 2 yet all I had to do was pop it into my DVd player and poof off it went installed and was ready to play in less than 5 minutes! I tested it out and it runs fine without using compatibility mode. :P

Ha! I should have bought this game from here if I had some cash on my debit card! :P lol I just found it under Windows 7. :/ I'm about to upgrade this laptop to 10 and see it will run on that as well.Man, waisted $20 buying this on amazon!!! :( Glad I found out it's worth a whole lot more than that though. ;) But for $9.99 on here I would have jumped on that deal!

...and yet you didnt just think to buy it ON GOG instead?!
- Just seems a little odd to me (even considering shitty internet - its not a big file).

At any rate I'm sure someone can get you to be able to run the game from your discs!

It was raining System Shock 2 here.
You could have asked for one if you were a regular GOG community member.
If I had found this site sooner I would have bought the game from here. But I have a lot of $$$ saved on gift cards from amazon! :P Only reason I got it from them. :/ Live and learn! ;)

Just buy it again here and keep the disc version as a nice little collector's item. That's a maximum total of about 30 bucks, and you could buy far worse games at that price.

Also make sure to check out the mods: http://www.gog.com/news/mod_spotlight_system_shock_2

You know what, I think I actually still have a code for a GOG copy. Let me know if you'd like to have it.

I'll have to wait till my next check comes in but yes if you have a code I'd love to use it. This game seems pretty cool and I love playing these older games.Never played any in this series and can't wait to try them. ;) Thank you!
This site looks like this is an old school gamers wet dream come true! :P lol

Check your chat.
Would getting it running involve more than using SS2Tool to install the latest NewDark package?
Keep your SS2 disk. It's still a very rare collector's item. Someone's already offered you an SS2 GOG key (I have one myself I was going to offer you), so please let us know if you've been able to get the game on GOG and get it running on your system successfully.
I just tried the ss2tool again and the zip file.I did exactly as instructed and it still will not work! so screw it I'm done messing with this game for now! thanks for all the help,I may get it later from here but not tonight or any time soon! :P lol Thanks and good night. :)

Dude, calm down. You just got a FREE System Shock 2 key from here just over 2 hours ago, courtesy of foxworks. The download from GOG.com is already pre-configured to work. Just install and have fun.

And, if you like the fact that Gog's done all the hard work of getting these Good Old Games to work on modern systems, you might want to buy from them next time. :-)

Don't want to sound harsh but i haven't been called dude in over 30 years! lol But that's okay by me! :) I was about to go to bed when I saw that foxworks gave me their code,I just finished downloading both the .exe files for the Game and the universal updater and getting ready to install both now. And I'm always calm, unless in a firefight! ;)
