Otherwise, this entire discussion is basically more of the same that's been going on ever since the "big news", with increasingly more on the "new" side and less and less of us "dinosaurs" drawn and staying here for the original ideals left. Difference between those seeing GOG as simply another business and store and those who came here for a place that fought for certain ideals and catered to a relatively niche market / group of people who cared for the same. Because we still don't have anywhere else to go to find that again, so keep hoping it'll still be found here. False hope, that, of course.

Do you mean game digital distributors specifically? I'm sure you could find organizations (and their respective online forums or communities) to get involved with that fight for consumer rights and ideals, but in a general sense.

I mean digital game stores unwavering from both completely DRM-free and one-product-one-price, striving to push the industry in that direction and working with the devs and publishers willing to go there and the users for whom the same things are very important, not necessarily locking horns with the biggest players and definitely not putting market share or the business aspect in general above said principles at any point. Plus the good support and most preferably full/complete game packages. Personally also preferred the focus on older games, but no harm in also having new ones as long as the older ones won't get less attention because of it.

PS: Can be digital stores in general, all sorts of software, music, ebooks, movies. But yes, started from here, games, and any other place will need to pay much attention to this to fit the bill.
And this will sound bad, but care less about the communities. There are obviously regular people who care for those things, albeit sadly just a small minority. I'm interested in businesses that put these same ideals above the, well, business side. Without those it's just a bunch of people agreeing that the world sucks.

They probably didn't get the Steam versions for free, they had to pay for them. Why exactly is this a problem for you that they can activate some games on GOG too? Do you feel bad because you don't have Steam copies of your GOG games like they do, or what is the problem? Generally speaking, I don't. If I have a working GOG version of a game, I don't really care at all whether or not I have a Steam version too, a bit like I don't care whether I have an EA Origin or UPlay version of a game. It is the same game, just on another store.

As I said before, I see these complaints similarly as if a game, which you have bought before, is being discounted. Do you feel bad that people can get the same game cheaper that you bought months ago for a higher price?

You just got games from GOG, so paid money to GOG and not their competitors. For this, GOG gives you nothing.
You got games from Steam and not GOG, so paid money to Steam and not GOG. For this, GOG gives you free copies of (some of) those games.
Message: GOG doesn't care about their loyal customers, but is just focused on drawing new ones.
As in pretty much what they've been doing since the "good news". If not, to some extent, since deciding to allow newer games and higher prices.

.... what do you want gOg to do? Ignore Steam users and not try to get them, or give you a bonus for each Steam users who comes. For apparently, you feel cheated somehow. Or do you prefer it if Steam users generally stayed on Steam and ignored gOg?

The message I see is "We want Steam users here!" not "We ignore our users!". For the existing users they do exactly the same as always, provide new sales, some contest, the usual Twitter participation crap, new events and so on. The inclusion of Connect do not mean the removal of something else, just that someone now also have another option to redeem a gOg game, and I feel it is petty that a subset of gOg users base do not see this is a good thing, but is rather.... jealous of it.

Bottom line is - for you who do not use Steam ,nothing at all is changed, it is exactly the same as before. So if you feel gOg "doesn't care about their loyal customers" now, then arguably this was the case before also.

(And gOg do not give "free copies", the user have paid for them, albeit not on gOg.)

I see that more as GOG's problem, not my problem. My purchased games are not affected.

It is the same as saying that GOG (or the publishers) favor those who buy games later, by offering their games cheaper for them, or sometimes even for free. How about the early adopters who bought the games earlier?

I've already explained the reasoning. Basically:
GOG should favor its current customers, not those on other stores (that never cared much about DRM).

As amok said, that's definitely jealousy.

But if you really want to use Steam with your games, I have the solution for you: open your Steam client and click "Add a Non-Steam Game" and give Steam the path to your GOG .exe files.
That will let you play your GOG games right from the Steam client, even if they aren't available on Steam! And, even better! You will own your games (because you bought them on GOG), not just some subscriptions (because that's what you get on Steam)!
