A while ago I got Five: Guardians of David on some DRM'd store. Now, when you see a game with anything remotely biblical you probably think the worst already. Don't. The game is absolutely not preachy. It's just an easy and fun ARPG.

Gameplay-wise, it is exactly like Diablo. Every character has some pretty awesome skills and you can swap among them at any time to keep the game fresh.

As for the story, it just follows a series of battles from the Bible where King David or his army was involved. Kinda like "the amalechites are attacking, defend the city" and "now set fire to the amonite fortress".

Mentioned this game awhile back but it was released out of Early Access today. Unfortunately, still not available on GOG, but the developer is selling DRM-free copies through Humble. Turn-based tactical strategy RPG is a gangster themed "neo noir" setting.

It's actually open-source and all Epsitec games are freeware, including one of my top 5 favorite games of all time (because it was like Mario on PC at the time), Speedy Eggbert aka Speedy Blupi.

This game could probably be qualified as indie, even if back then in release date this term wasn't popular yet:

Laser Squad: Nemesis

Some info on mobygames: https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/laser-squad-nemesis

Not sure what's the current status of online game (probably not functioning or based on some fan-made servers), but offline part of the game (campaign, hot-seat mode, map editor) are really cool!

this isn't an indie but it does have fewer than 300 votes.

I was watching some Bad Day LA, and part of me thinks the game has an amusing enough story and cutscenes, and gameplay is bug-free(?) enough and artstyle is interesting, to override the terrible reviews it got back in the day. It's not as good as Postal 2 but it has similar unpolitically correct vibes. I'd advise away from anything more than a 5.99 price tag unless GOG would have to do serious work to get it running on modern machines (and if that's the case, perhaps not to bother bringing it :P)
