borisburke: Under 18's can't click the button. It's there for a reason.
That's right, all mice have DNA scanners built into them and the left mouse button will not actuate on "Continue" if the user is under 18.
Let's not argue otherwise or give the opposition any ideas.

Yeah, it's the most user-friendly age verification I've seen. No cookie needed, no page reload. I love it.

GHOSTMD: Well yes, since the "age confirmation" was the only rason why adult games like
subverse were "locked" in germany. Which is (as far as i know) one of the biggest
markets in the EU

Well here we are, subverse made it to GoG, more games are always a good thing
to have.
I believe we rather see it, because it seems to have an USK rating, since it shows up on the store page.

The simple "I am old enough" question gate is typically not enough for unrated games. And barely enough for titles starting 18, but looks like no one really cares, as long as it has been rated by the USK. The rules could be taken more strictly. Let's hope they not go any further.

But strictly taken you would need to put everything starting from 18 in a seperate area (this is also true for physical stores, and some smaller ones actually adhere to the rules with a seperate room) and make sure minors are not able to get close to that content.

Though I will never understand, why they don't cry out loud if it's violence, unrated or not, but when it comes to erotic games...

EDIT:
added a word, corrected a silly de-eng mistake

No it is basically a game we see it because GoG bothered to implement the age question
that is now required for games 18 and above in germany.

I think Subverse is still locked on Steam for germany, because Valve can not be bothered
to do something "simple" like implementing said age check.

Every Game now that is 18 and above content has that Check, before you can see the
productside.

Unrated means usually that the game gets indexed
and who ever finds grammar and spelling mistakes can keep them :D i do claim

No, they're not. To be indexed, they have to be reviewed first, or being complaint about.

There are countless games unrated, even here on gog. Just check those multitude game pages. Lot's of todays games, maybe even the bigger part of them, have no USK approval (=USK logo displayed) at all.

Even the new Myst has not been tested and approved by the USK (check it in their database). Strictly by the rules, the game shouldn't be allowed to be sold to minors. Would there be a physical edition you would need to buy it with age verification, like any other USK unrated game you can buy (though then they would probably bother to go through certification, since it's likely to get the 0 rating).

I am not saying that I want it that way, but this is how the system is supposed to be working.
The new update released on Steam yesterday, and it was said that the GOG release would coincide with this new update... So can we expect the Subverse GOG release to happen this week?
I thought today?

no. Subverse is early access on Steam, and it has not hit complete release yet. the new update is a content update for the early access. Since Subverse is not in EA here on gOg, it will not be releaed until the 1.0 version is finished. I do not think they have a clear date for release yet.

The Subverse devs have said when it was announced to be coming on GOG that the GOG launch would coincide with this content update. They just said on their Discord that the GOG version is just waiting to unlock. So it's already been submitted and uploaded here, and GOG needs to unlock the game from the sounds of it.

The original release date for this update was the 25th or so, but it was ready to go early and so it was released early on Steam. I guess the question is if it'll release early on GOG also, or will it still be the 25th.

Just some info: spotted a banner for the game on the main page today between like 15:01-15:03. Unfortunately didn't screenshot it. After the page loaded, there was an option to add to cart but it instantly reverted to "coming soon". After these roughly 2 minutes, the banner disappeared from the front page again. Seems like GOG was testing some stuff regarding this game. Might hint at an upcoming release.

Not for germany, since it seems GoG removed to age confirmation for us.
Which means, Subverse will be geoblocked again. Opend a thread in GENERAL
about this
When is this game coming out, GOG? The new update was released early on Steam several days ago, and the GOG version was supposed to release with the new update. The original release date was the 25th, so I'm expecting it to release today. I'll give it until tomorrow, and if it doesn't show up here I'm just buying it on Steam.

Shouldn't surprise anyone. Germany wants unreasonable age-verification.

Definitely give it at least today until midnight. As I've said above, I spotted a banner for it on the main page for a couple of minutes so something seems to be happening.
