amok: No, it is not. The DRM in Steamworks is called CEG, and it is up to the publisher whether they want to use it or not. If they don;t, you can publish games DRM free on Steam, there are many DRM free games there.

andreasaspenberg2: considering how steam`s staff is treating me, i try to stay away from steam. they threatened with giving me a permanent ban if i post anything more on their forums(ban=loss of access to game library). there is however some games that is available only on steam. if a game is available on gog however i will get it here and not on steam.

DubConqueror: I'm always surprised at how vehemently angry people get about other people buying games with DRM. Just as if DRM is the biggest evil in the world. I don't like DRM either, but there's far worse things in the world people buy anyway: products from the cattle industry, cows, pigs, chickens held in far too little cages with no chance to go outside, vehicles consuming gasoline, like cars, motorcycles, airplanes while the climate is going haywire, crops tilted with use of chemicals that kill all fertility of the soil, creating the need for chemically made nutrients to be put into the soil which is otherwise dead, clothes made with use of child labour, in far too crowded factories with too little wages and too much hours forced out of the labour force. All those things happen and most people buy their consumer products anyway. And what do people do on GOG? Ostracize people for buying games with copyright protection like it's the biggest evil in the world. Maybe it's time to put your anger into fighting real issues, like all the carbon dioxide emitting vehicles on the road, the food you buy that's killing the environment and the clothes you wear that's made with something close to slave labour. And stop ostracizing people about tiny issues like DRM.

moobot83: the more of you who buy games on steam, the longer DRM will continue, you DO NOT buy your games on steam you pay triple A prices (unless sale) to rent your games, thats right you dnt own your games cos steam games are not DRM free like GOG is, yes GOG has a client but you dnt need it to play games, where as with steam you have to have the client installed to play 98% of games ofc there are a few wehre u dnt need the steam client but you have to modify the install files.

its time to stop supporting steam,orgin etc and all these other DRM clients, i do not count battle net in this cos they only host there own games unlike steam or origin so its more of a convieniance than actual DRM
