I caved in and bought it during the Humble Ubisoft bundle. The game itself is not bad. However what is awful is that if you're disconnected, you can't play anymore and you're also kicked out of your game. I'm glad I donated all the money so nothing goes to Ubisoft.

So that's a no then, because I love to play my turn based games on the go when I can turn away for a second without problems.

Thanks for the help :)

I played Heroes VI offline with no problem. You have to go online to set it up but after that you can play offline for weeks at a time. I think I went a month or so, once. However, unless it has been recently changed, you won't be able to use the most powerful artifacts while offline, so your hero will be a little gimped.

Honestly, Heroes isn't that much of a challenge; if you liked 5, I'd say spring for 6. It's generally improved, though I'm still far from a fan of UPlay.

To be fair it has an offline mode, but then you won't be able to use dynasty stuff, which help a lot in this game. And savegames made in online mode can't be loaded offline and viceversa.
And yeah, the point of turn based games for me also is that I can just leave them and come back 10 minutes later without missing out on anything...

Keep in mind that offline and online saves cannot be mixed. Offline mode is like playing the pirated copy :))

There's a working (official!) offline mode for HOMM 6, I've played through the entire game with all addons and had no issues.

Except that you can't use half the features like Dynasty traits and Dynasty weapons...

Yes, but who cares? I made a second playthrough online and I didn't find the differences notable (only my opinion, of course).

But you're right: the online mode with its restrictions is a pain in the ass and a valid reason not buying this (rather good) game for full price.

I'm thinking of getting these two: Cylne and Pneuma: Breath of Life.

Has anyone here completed them, let alone played them?

GreenDamsel: Was that a reply to me?
Nope, sorry. I was referring to the whole steam sale. :P I haven't gotten around to playing HOMM6 yet. There are mixed reviews so I guess you'll have to find out for yourself.

Not going to buy anything fro steam sale.
I prefer to support DRM-Free revolution.
Only game hat I play is Risk of Rain and that too is broken.
I played 1000+ hrs of it still it shows 24 hrs.
People care about that sale? That's new. I generally filter it out of mind. Better deals on GOG. Edna & Harvey for 95% off? Oh yes!
high rated
Arx Fatalis is 50% off on Steam, but I want GOG's DRM-Free version. Come on GOG, I want it on 2015 DRM-FREE SUMMER SALE. :-)

By the way, Steam version has 5 languages and GOG's version has only English... :-/ That's not cool GOG!
How to Survive is 90% off. http://store.steampowered.com/app/250400/
Yep, GOG needs to add more languages, its like the bad "old times" when its only english.
