Leroux: Ah, ok. I take it best seller really mean the games that are purchased the most, as in the Top Sellers category on the front page? Or does it mean select games that Steam wants to push, like GOG's Staff Picks last week?
Yeah select games. Most likely AAAs and top indies. Don't expect smaller titles to be featured.

Yeah, I think it refers to the top sellers on the sale. But even looking at that list its difficult to determine what exactly will repeat. The list also has games that aren't on sale as well which doesn't help, Valve probably has the actual data on sales numbers which they use to determine the games for the encore.

I can almost guarantee Skyrim would be featured. LOL.

Skyrim, CS GO, Grand Theft Auto 5, Resident Evil series, Borderlands series and most likely Football Manager.
I'm finding this year's sale to be extremely underwhelming so far. I haven't bought anything yet and I'm wondering if I even will. X_x

Easily the weakest steam sale so far(been folowing them since 2012 winter)
I've noticed some games have great discounts without being spotlighted that much (e.g. Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is 80% off for the duration of the whole sale, 3 EUR over here; I already own it though). But it doesn't seem like you can sort games by discount to find these, can you?

Can anyone recommend a hidden gem or underdog for under 5 euros or dollars that I might have overlooked? Otherwise I think I'll take the plunge and spend my wallet money on The Legend of Korra.

Hmm, maybe I will get King's Bounty Dark Side, and only because I have some wallet money from cards, still... would like it better on gog. Oh well...
I would like to see a comparison of number of sales before and after the whole region locking thing to see the side effects...

https://steamdb.info/sales/

You can order by discount, it tells you what the biggest discount has been, percentage of positive reviews.

Well, I don't really play multiplayer games, strategy, military shooters, sports, sims. Unless I forgot any disliked genre, I think I'm pretty open otherwise. I'm not terribly fond of JRPG combat, but it depends on the games (South Park was fine). I mostly play RPGs, point-and-click, action adventures, puzzles and platformers, FPS. Chances are pretty high I already own all the good ones though. ;)

Cyraxpt:
Ah, you were quicker than me. :D

I already own DoD, Ittle Dew, La Mulana, Hard Reset and Banner Saga. Volgarr the Viking sounds too hardcore for my liking; I'm interested in E.Y.E. and I've never heard of Castle in the Darkness, which looks nice, too, but both don't have such a good price right now. So I still tend towards Korra, but thanks a lot for all the suggestions! I'll wishlist Castle in the Darkness. :)

Cool, thanks!

Pheace: I wants it, but it's still slightly out of impulse range imo :p

DProject: You'd be a fool not to get it for that price (and waiting for possibly months for a slightly bigger discount). It's an amazing game with tons of value.
Managed to trade for a copy :D

Here you can see some.

Leroux: Snip
E,Y.E., from what i've heard, it's a bit similar to Deus Ex in terms of gameplay but i think it's better in coop so keep that in mind. (and it should go cheaper, i remember buying it for 1€).

And now that i have more information...

Valkyria Chronicles - If its the combat that bothers you in jrpg then you should give this a look, it's more similar to games like Xcom but you can aim.

Condemned - Have you tried this one? It does look dated but i really enjoyed the whole serial killer/detective vibe that the game had. (- 50% but i think it will reach the -75%)

Wrack - Haven't played it but it looks cool. (but something tells me that you already have it from a bundle, eheh)

Platformines - I remember playing the demo and enjoying it, if it gets -75% i might buy it (i was hopping that it would appear on a bundle)

Valdis Story - Haven't played it but people say good stuff about it (and it will probably reach -75%).

While looking for games to make these lists i realized why people are saying that Steam sales are weak, there used to be more games dirty cheap (1€~3€) and now there aren't as many...
