It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

First time really using steam. Is it possible to install the games in a specific location? or are you restricted to ..Steam\steamapps\common (or "Create a steam library in a new drive" whatever that means...)?

What about older games and mods that need you to specify installation directory? Will they work?

Go to "View", "Settings", "Downloads", "STEAM Library Folders", "Add Library Folder" and you should be able to add another folder to use, in addition to the default one.

Indeed and if any of the older mods complain, you can always just create a link to fool them into doing the right thing.

Thanks. Just tried it. It still creates a weird folder structure, but the game folders are there.

Sorry I didn't set this as a question to mark your solution.
