https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/always_offer_patches_stop_forcing_us_to_download_the_whole_game_repeatedly

Titan Quest, being the biggest bitch for doing this, has been patched several times since it came to GOG, yet every sodding time, it has meant having to do a full download of the entire game install files.

That's 5.6gig of data every "patch" release, instead of actual patches like steam users & (beta/optional)Galaxy users are having to DL.

Even INSIDE today (although only 1.2gig) also released a full dl "patch".

Come one, come all, vote & let's hope things get fixed asap!

Is this an attempt to push us all to use galaxy?

Mmmm, electric'y flavour.
I know someone with the Witcher 3 game (who gave me his old discs...) he was annoyed that it would force him to get something like 25Gb downloads to update the game. Of course due to his internet connection has a limit, he ends up paying like $200 extra when he goes over 12Gigs...

I agree patches would be preferred, also if we kept a history of the older patches so we could incrementally update or get the x.x.x version of the game, especially relevant with games with mods that are dependent on specific versions. (ToME comes to mind)
Gog really needs to implement a proper game update plan.
It's absurd that customers have to rely on users's scripts for sensible solutions..

And this time we aren't talking about "secondary" things like the forum.

Yep, very annoying behaviour.
I delayed updating Titan Quest for afew weeks because of the history of full Installer patches, and the day after i grab the latest installer it gets updated again? Luckily i dont have a rigid DL cap, but if i pass the "fair use" limit often, my isp might slow down my connectionfor the month in question.

Which game stores do it better than GOG?

Steam doesn't because they don't even offer any offline installers, let alone offline patches for games. You have to use their client to download and update your games (at least to do it in an official way). Same goes for EA Origin.

I don't think Humble Bundle does that either. If their DRM-free installer gets an update, then the whole installer gets updated. GOG at least offers separate patches quite often, if not always.

Yes it is ok to request GOG to go the extra mile and offer something that no other digital game store does (like offline patches for all their games), but let's not pretend this is some GOG-specific problem.
"fishbaits pleads with GOG to start providing small patches"
"It's not very effective..."

(Hint: Titan Quest [speaking of the devil] has just been updated again and guess what is missing...)

Is that a valid excuse?
Should we just adapt to the worst behaviour? (remember DRM)

Btw, I didn't say it's a GOG-specific problem, only that it's an important problem for customers here.

Galaxy is worse; it turns 4 MB dlc (if manually instally) into 3GB updates ;)

Aaaaaaaaaaaand it's gone & fucking done it again.
Today, small patch for Titan Quest (aptly named...)

Patch 1.4 hf2 (02 December 2016)

Item pickup mechanics fixed.

Full re-DL again!
Hmm, possibly because they've not done the smaller standalone patches yet, but Shadow Warrior2 has only been updated in the complete DLs.

Hope this isn't going to be an reoccurring thing, because if it is, than what's the point of not just using steam to do small patches instead of using GOG to do full "patches".

I guess their reasoning is, since they don't know what specific update version you're playing with, they have to force a full reinstall for an offline version. Or else your patch notes might look like this:

Before installing this patch v. 1.02.56, please update game to version 1.02.55.
If using game version 1.02.54, please update to 1.02.55 before updating to 1.02.56.
If using game version 1.02.53, please update to 1.02.54 before updating to 1.02.55 and 1.02.56.

etc

Lol. Sorry, that gave me a laugh more than it should have.

Yeah, not really sure why Nordic has a problem making a smaller separate patch for this game, but it's quite annoying to me and makes me just want to wait it out.

Which is fine if they do that. Takes much less time for one person at gOg to maintain those patch entries than it does for a whole mess of paying customers to download a complete game for the umpteenth time.
Things are going downhill at full speed again it appears.

The marvels that are Flying Wild Hod released a free DLC for Shadow Warrior2.

steam users & the (optional...) galaxy users got the game patched.

Those of us that want standalone patches get screwed over.
Not only is it a full DL all over again, but GOG have removed all previous patches too.
Anyone that wanted to patch their older versions now also have to fully DL the entire ~13gig files all over again.

Because reasons.....

(P.S. They edited out the part that stated we wouldn't get the recent patch for standalone until the next patch (if there is one) is released...)
