We're now officially an independent studio & we have complete control of the Hitman IP!

Holy shit...

That's great news.

They became independent and wrestled control of Hitman away from Square Enix? That's quite a rare moment in videogaming history.

Paradoks: That is very unlikely. Number wise, Hitman at this point is the second most successful franchise of the former Eidos branch. SE will make adjustments and either give it to one of their other studios or outsource it to a independent developer, but they will not sell the rights for it.
Maybe not so unlikely after all...

I'll admit that this turn of events is really surprising (in a good way). Then again, rational is the last word I would use for Square Enix's recent treatment of Eidos franchises. They are getting rid of Hitman, Deus Ex is on hold, Thief is on hold (not officially but it doesn't seem to matter), new Tomb Raider is apparently switching developers (handled by Eidos Montreal instead of Crystal Dynamics). And my favourite Legacy of Kain will apparently be handled by indie developers now (still better than the disaster that Dead Sun would have been).
