I'm unable to archive pages because the prices are determined by IP address (Internet Archive's Wayback Machine seems to use US IP). I have used VPN for several euro locations to verify prices.

Yeah that was already discussed when those games were released. Apparently they are that expensive in the US and gog is using that base price for everyone.
And on that note, it is not more expensive for everyone in Europe. Because for Swiss people Steam charges even more than gog.
In the end this whole pricing is just a mess.

Switzerland currency is Swiss franc, I'm comparing euro prices.
All GOG games are expensive for me.
Should I also make a thread?
Difference between buying and rental? :D
Yay to regional mess. GOG's base price is in USD. And soon those of us who felt upset that 1 EURO = 1 USD was the practice on steam, soon we'll have to live with actually 1 euro = 1 usd or even more.
EA games aren't cheap on GOG in general.

Think EA games cost more on GOG cause of DRM free. Those greedy SOBs at EA love money. That and they probably refuse to DRM free games for atleast 5 years just looking at that list. They probably figure after 5 years people aren't so quick to pirate a game cause games 5 years or older don't come to mind as fast.

GOG has 2 choices.
Choice 1) Use a single price (like the US one) for products. People complain that some games are more expensive on GOG than other places.
Choice 2) Use regional pricing for products. People complain that regional prices are unfair, even if those are the same that exist in other places.

I guess the only choice GOG has is to sing this.

But the mentioned game aren't flatpriced (single US price for everyone). There's regional pricing on top of it. So it's choice 2, but with a very different pricing sceme than on Steam (or on Origin).

African_wildlife: The EA games don't cost more because of "DRM-free", older games don't commonly have DRM either on Steam and Origin.
Could you please tell me how this statement is true? You need a DRM-Client to download it. How could it be without DRM?

For the rest - Yeah, different shop have different prices. You are free to choose the one that is more convenient for you.

True, I keep forgetting that there are more than 3 pricing zones. So oversimplification on my part, and erroneous data. I apologize.

Because distribution does not mean execution. For some games, the files you get on your PC are identical, whether you use the Steam version or the GOG version. So if the executables are identical, are the games' attributes identical or not?
Not to mention that with some Steam games, you can download them from computer A, then move them to offline computer B and play them.
