Earlier I was reading the Star Control Origins impending gog removal:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/early_warning_star_control_origins_removal_probably_right_away/page1

And then read this:

http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Stardock_Systems_Inc._v._Paul_Reiche_III_and_Robert_Frederick_Ford

reading the above link I found these:
https://www.dogarandkazon.com/blog/2018/2/27/report-from-planet-surface
https://issuu.com/dogarandkazon/docs/gog_email_chain_-_no_email_addresse
https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cand.320268/gov.uscourts.cand.320268.64.9.pdf

of particular interest is ss4.jpg where we can find that the revenue split is 50-50
(it is interesting also that the pdf exhibit 8 submitted to legal court does not contain the whole atari-gog email chain, particulary the revenue split discussions)

Made copies/screenshots which are attached here also.

Not sure what you're referring to? I think the 50-50 split was about copyright income, not the GOG split?

Edit: huh, does indeed seem to be a 50/50% split for GOG for that game.

Can you write down what you mean cause its a lot of links and screencaps and while its good to have them I ain't clicking through them without knowing what they are...

edit: huh. okay. i read the stuff.

so it seems. when paying 6 usd for a game to gog, GOG pay taxes, applies any "costs" associated with refunds/claim backs etc, and then 50% of whatever is left over is paid to the owner.

so owner gets less than 3 usd for the game.

but

GOG is responsible for making the game work on modern machines and technical support for ongoing compatibility issues.

so I presume that 50/50 split is in relation to old games where work is required for gog to sale them. and then companies can benefit for that work.

makes sense why so many old games on steam are broken but work via gog. steam does not do that... just sales what rights owner gives them.
gog makes sure and its written in contract (I presume) that they will make the game workable on modern computers.

it's probably important to note that this regards old games and it's not only selling deal, but "GOG is responsible for all re-mastering for modern operating systems compatibility, QA, customer and tech support."

So basically GOG is doing all the stuff and takes 50%. With new games that would be impossible.

I'm also not sure if Star Control guys should reveal such informations.

These last 3 would seem to apply to any game on the GOG store so I don't see why that would mean they should get the 25% cut for that.

The remastering part seems to be the fairest argument for that.
The developer getting 50% for doing essentially jack shit? Good deal.
70/30 split was publicly visible on GOG's "Submit your game" page some time ago (next to a temporary 60/40 split for indies who got some funding from GOG). So the 50/50 deal must be something for old games that need some work from GOG.

The more interesting question is if publishers get 70/30 on Steam (and whatever it is on other stores), or if it turns 50/30/20 there. I mean... If people on Steam have problems with their "GOG games", the publishers probably will tell GOG that their version has some issues that need to be fixed. Why not take some money for this?

Hey now. There wouldn't be any money to be made if they hadn't created the game in the first place.

It's also back from 2011, it may just be straight up 70-30 these days for all we know
