Opinions, ideas... yes or no?
More importantly what about my GOGs :) Will they work on windows 10? I wish GOG had a filter of my library to check supported OS versions.
Wait... 7 windows users also? Interesting...

Well it depend what is your current OS. If you already have Windows 8.1, Windows 10 will be very similar (i.e. shouldn't be less compatible) so you games should work the same.

If you have Windows 7, most should work fine but some might cause issues. (But then again the same is true for Windows 7, I am currently playing Longest Journey and it crash 70% of the time after each FMV)
so they really want to push win 10

I doubt anyone can give a definite answer at this point. So just wait a bit after the realease and see what happens.
So what happened to Win 9 anyway?

Alot of my old games were rendered unplayable by Windows 8.1. One reason my games broke was the continued break of ddraw. I was really hoping that there would be some kind of mention of old games being supported in the stream but I knew that was super unlikely and there wasn't any mention. Windows 10 will likely break more old games IMO.

I just noticed this after reading about .NET Core, first time Microsoft has gotten two thumbs up from me in a while.

I'll probably take advantage of a free upgarde on my main rig for sure, I got enough old boxes sitting around for the extremely picky old games.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate, gifted to me by a friend a long time ago. I also have a license for Windows 7 Home Premium with my laptop.. So in theory I could upgrade one or both.
Wait 6 months to let the first work out the kinks, and secondly reveal any ugly catches it might have.

Hello, my question as well. Did they change the laws of arithmetic while I was away? What, does 9 come after 45 now and no one told me?
I'm already on 8.1 so I don't see what the harm will be. I'll wait a few months in though until we get a full verdict on its RC and stability status. From what I've read about the preview though it's supposed to be pretty solid already. Not a huge change from the current system. That said, as long as I'll be able to completely turn off that fucking Metro I'll be happy. Granted, I don't see any of that 99% of the time, but still.

MS decided to skip directly to 10 with their reason being: "It sounds better!" Yeah.

to distance themselves from windows 8 ( 9 is too close to 8 whiel 10 is 2 leaps forwards )

and because of a lot a of old software looks for the 9x string and ssumes its windows 95-98
and a lot of developers still use that apparently
mostly to check what version of windows the software is being run on

I'm maybe wrong but fromwhat I've understood so far, users of 7,8,8.1 can try it the first year of its release and will have to pay it if they want to keep using it.

Don't raise our hopes too high.
