www.mobygames.com

It has been oddly unreachable the last few days. Sometimes it is back, but both earlier and now I get some odd errors that don't tell much to me. Do they have some kind of configuration error, have they been invaded and cracked by anti-GamerGaters, etc.?

Is Mobygames.com down for others too? Just to see if this is not just some issue with my PC or connection. Earlier I got some other odd error, now this (different one):

Welcome to nginx on EPEL!

This page is used to test the proper operation of the nginx HTTP server after it has been installed. If you can read this page, it means that the web server installed at this site is working properly.
Website Administrator

This is the default index.html page that is distributed with nginx on EPEL. It is located in /usr/share/nginx/html.

You should now put your content in a location of your choice and edit the root configuration directive in the nginx configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf.
Mobygames is my place to go if I want to find as much information as possible about some (usually older) game, like to which platforms it was made, when exactly it was released, what other games are in the same series (including expansion packs) etc. Are there other similar places? I guess Wikipedia is one, but I presume they don't list as many games, and it is not as easy to browse games there.

Had trouble accessing a few dozen sites over the last few weeks....
Mobygames works just fine for me.
No problems for me either.
www.mobygames.com works for me, but mobygames.com does not.
Mobygames is just fine to me. (Chrome 41.)
Mobygames is fine for me on Pale Moon.
The site is working perfectly for me... I'm using Firefox 37.0.1.

Have you tried using another browser, resetting your router / modem and clearing your browser cache? Do you also have trouble with other sites? Did you check with your ISP?
Works just fine for me too (Firefox 37.0.1).
Working fine for me as well, both on my netbook (Firefoix 37) and on my desktop (Opera)

spindown: www.mobygames.com works for me, but mobygames.com does not.
Doh! This seems to be the case, if I add the www. in the beginning, I get to the pages.

I'm sure someone knows why this is the case.

Sure. Because www.mobygames.com is a different domain than mobygames.com. To be more precise, it is a specific subdomain of mobygames.com.

www.domain.com, something.domain.com, somethingelse.domain.com and domain.com could all point to completely different webpages. What you get delivered depends on the server configuration.

Of course it is customary today to point domain.com to the same webpages as www.domain.com but it seems the server or website owner forgot to configure that and the server has no configuration for mobygames.com and thus serves its default page which usually is a test page to see if the server is running.

Maybe this has changed recently for MobyGames, as I think I normally leave the www completely away, with all web pages. gog.com too.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to start using that www. from now on.
