JMich: Microsoft is aware of GOG. GOG is trying to sign with Microsoft.
And that's the important part! Microsoft knows that there's a place called GOG, were publishers make profit from their old (and not so old) video games. And GOG keeps telling Microsoft that they could make some profit here too.

Microsoft is a business. Businesses love profit. And GOG seems to be big enough now to "guarantee" them some profit.

jamyskis: Didn't Dust: An Elysian Tail initially have Microsoft listed as the publisher? In fact, I believe that the GOG version still has the Microsoft Studios splash screen included...
Last time I played it, it had the Microsoft Studios screen on startup.

I have Age of Empires and Age of Empires 2 on dvd. But sadly with drm.
I'd like to buy Age of Empires with soundtrack on gog drm free.
I am still waiting for it.

cogadh: It's a meaningless thing. If MS had only been on the list for a few days or weeks, I might be more positive about it, but it has been there for years. Someone earlier said since 2014, but I'm certain its been longer. It was widely noticed in 2014 because of the site update, but it had appeared there before then. That list has included everyone you can imagine at different times and has been in no way an indicator of what is or is not coming. It is a pretty good indicator of what GOG wants though.

That would certainly explain why Microsoft is included.
Yes. Even the Linux version has the Microsoft Studios logo animation. Not because Microsoft's actually involved with the game, but because the game was first published as an indie game on XBox Live, and all indie games there get/got Microsoft as the publisher. Then, when the developer ported it to Windows, and later Linux and OS X, the logo animation was left in.

As a side question, why the hell isn't the Linux version on GOG? Did Humble get an exclusivity deal?

The most recent disc version of Age of Empires Collector's Edition (not the Ubisoft Exclusive version with the blue border) has no copy protection.

Speaking of Age of Empires, if they do come here I hope they will release the vanilla version of it. I'm not a big fan of the HD edition... however, knowing Microsoft... probably not.

I can't remember the last time Microsoft's game studio had me excited about a new release - probably way back in the early 2000s. What happened to them? They used to be kings!

johnnygoging: be nice if we had Microsoft Game Studios.

We could have Monster Truck Madness, and Freelancer.

Fuck yeah, Freelancer.
Yeah, GOG really needs Age of Empires, , [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/starlancer]Starlancer, and Urban Assault!

I used to have so many mods and trucks for MTM2.

Anyone ever play Freelancer's insanely good mods? I played Discovery. Unbelievable how much they've added.
