This is what happens when you try to milk a franchise and make sequel after sequel to squeeze as much money as possible from the loyal fan base.

Sega could have either re-invented the Sonic character with a new storyline or just given a proper closure to the character and Sonic universe with one final game and a proper ending.

That it's a decision they should have made a long time ago, if they're not gonna take his games seriously, and if they're just going to be chasing Mario, and/or not doing anything new or innovative with the IP.
