My friend started an argument about gun control and naturally everyone started quoting everything they heard on the news etc.

But is there any positive or negative aspects you believe in relation to legalised weapons that is not news paper opinions?

For example, I commented that I personally would love the opportunity to have something to legally defend myself with due to the murdering drug dealers (no exaggeration ), serious amount of thieves and immigrants who have tried to kick down many peoples front doors in my area etc. What is a can of mace going to do against 6 drunk violent Russians who tend to wield Bowie Knives on anyone and everyone.

I got told I was a coward, wrong for saying it and that if it was legal it would make things worse blah blah blah. The usual stuff.

You guys are very opinionated so it should be interesting. So come on, speak. :D
Gun control is definitely a good thing, you don't want people just firing weapons without being in control.

Well obviously, but discussion ideas on how to do so whilst keeping the right to arm yourself for defence etc. Any interesting thoughts?

I know, but it's about time we actually discuss it maturely haha. I'm not going to criticise anyone for their views.
Outside of North Korea, there is no place on earth where you can't buy a gun if you want to . The only difference is whether it's legal or not .
To quote Eddie Izzard, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Yes, but the gun helps."

And I don't think this one will end well either. Too much flamable material.
I'm American... So I say everyone should have a gun!! Maybe even 2!! Or something.

I think there's no right answer. Legal guns means any old idiot will have an easier time getting them. However, People will be able to defend themselves. Illegal guns means that fewer criminals will have them, but those that do will be instantly superior to whomever they are attacking. There's got to be a fine line there somewhere, but where do you find it?

and if it doesn't it will be entertaining anyway. I have said my part. Time to let it flow or burn. :P
I don't even remember the last time I've seen a gun in real life. When I did it was probably a holstered one that a policeman was carrying.

Haven't ever felt I needed a gun.
I'm all for abolishing guns as I hate them, I find killing with an axe or chainsaw much more satisfying.

Except every woman should own one and be trained for them for mowing down rapists.

I envy you I really do. I'm sick of being threatened physically.
