So for the past months I have been replaying the entire Mass Effect Trilogy on PC with all the essential DLC (yes including the extended cut, but I can tell when the original ending took place) and so far Mass Effect 3 is my favorite from the gameplay department, I just like the smooth and faster paced controls. I mean can we all just agree that as of now Mass Effect 3 is NOT a bad game? Anyway:

SPOILERS STRANGELY FOR A 3 YEAR OLD GAME THAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW BY NOW:

So to me its not the Child, nor the "only 3-4 endings despite saying everything we do affects it" (which personally is the result of fans taking this with too much expectation), nor the minor plot hole about Sythetics and Organics always will be in conflict with each other even though the Geth and Quarians sort of proved it wrong (even though the Leviathan DLC patched the hole a bit with a certain comment said by the beast)

No the real reason that I think why people hated the original ending was this final scene:

At 3:20 that was literally the last thing you saw and THE END. Now I said I understand because I did not bought Mass Effect 3 at launch day (heck I have not got into the whole trilogy until all 3 and their DLCs are out) so I was really not affected and a bit confused how such outrage the internet was flooded with. (This ending alone put EA at the worst company of all time) but now I understand it. I mean some of the old CRPGs like Fallout 1-2 gave us slideshows of all the things we did and its results.

Oh well it was a fun time replaying this whole trilogy on PC at glorius 60 FPS, 1080p, and Ultra settings. Man if only they release a whole complete trilogy in one game with all the bugs fixed and all the graphics of the first 2 games up to par with ME3.

I already had my say. Brain is cooked. No more love, no more hate, no more pain... just gray clouds. Limbo. Purgatory.

I don't know why people hated the ME3 ending in particular, the entire story was atrocious.

You should keep doing that. I didn't play ME3 and didn't spoil myself. However, while I really like the first two for various reasons, I really don't have any will to play thethird .... for now.
So keep your labels up :-)
^ This. Never assume everyone has played a three year old game (let alone a 20 year old game). Please use spoilers where appropriate. The community thanks you ;-)

For once, I agree.

I think we're going to need a bigger suit.

Thing is, it was sold on that. I remember thinking that was one hell of a claim, but with past games into account, I actually believed they would pull it off. And they certainly did not. I found the ending nonsensical, lacking closure, and needing multiplayer to unlock endings was absurd. When I finished it, I sighed and forgot about the whole series. It had so much potential when I played the first one, which only made the third even more disappointing.

I was not visiting the internet back then and I only heard about the whole online petitions and such a year afterwards, but I honestly did not like the game very much. IMO, it was a pretty bad way to end a trilogy sold on choice.

Well, if you enter a thread about the ending of a game you haven't played and get spoiled, you only have yourself to blame. Not that spoiler tags in other threads wouldn't be helpful.

AHEM!

elmo has the top ten results as I see, and also (not long ago) had another thread I cant see there promising "no more mass effect threads" - or to that effect.

I think by now, in that timesapce (and with a multitude of other, similar content with other IP threads), and the same complaints... we could expect some attempt at spoilers / "not another fucking thread" type shit.
feel free to discuss with your boss on skype.

I was disappointed with the rather short montage in the extended cuts, and it wouldn't have hurt to have a bit more detailed narration about events afterward.

Why on earth would anyone spend so much time writing up their thoughts on such a terrible game series? That's got to be the ultimate tl;dr.

Get some taste please.

Mass Effect 2 ruined the whole series for me so I never played #3, but I watched all the endings on the tube after the whole thing flared up.

I've never really cared about how games end, I don't really think about them as being either 'good' or 'bad'. What happens in the story during the actual gameplay is far more important and significant to me. My reaction to how a game ends is 'well OK, that's that then...move on to the next game'.

So it was hard for me to sympathies with what I saw as overreaction. Its not as if you get more than 3-4 endings in most other RPGs, except with games like Alpha Protocol which has a dozen or so but even then the endings are just marginally different from each other, and not significantly so: person X is with you in ending cutscene instead if person Y.
