So it just happened again despite almost a month of nothing happening. And my brother fixed everything.

Now here is the thing ever since my brother re fitted the graphics card (GTX 970) and downloaded this program, EVGA Precision X (Here is a steam page)

http://store.steampowered.com/app/268850/

Now I was playing Heroes of the Storm when it happened. Now I don't know whether I forgot to set the fan speed to 50% as I usually do or mabye I have to increase it or make new adjustments to the EVGA program.

To those who uses it:

My GPU temp right now is at 38 c.

GPU temp Target at 79 c.

I keep a small table fan next to my PC for the summer months. Cost me 12 bucks on Amazon, works great.

Well I need a table fan for me because lately my air conditioner is leakiing water if prolonged and my desktop is right below it :P
Aye slide off the side of your puter, and open the window, no need to buy a cooling system.

My computer sucks in enough cat fur with the casing on. :P No thanks. :D

You want my the insides of my desktop exposed?
If you have Vsync turned on, it will cap the frame rate at 60 (or whatever your monitor refresh is) and that will reduce the load on your GPU. If you have Vsync turned off then your GPU will probably always be at 100% load, even for older games.

I think even if you aren't worried about heat it is still better to turn Vsync on just to reduce the electricity bill and maybe reduce fan noise as well.

Thats what I do, I have my computer on the window ledge. I do get the odd spider ^^

Optimize your case, buy some quality case fans and optional filters. Keep your home temperatures as cool as possible. You can also upgrade your cooling solution and apply better thermal paste if the card heatsink is the problem.

LOL me too! I only wish I could turn it on\off more easily (it's under my desk).
Ah my pc case is completely opened, however.

The thing is this is the first time it happened since the fix. I have played Metro Last Light Redux at Ultra in it's entirety with the EVGA thing at 50% fan speed and it did not cause any shut downs and so far I had this has been going on fine for almost 2 months now.

Either I forgotten to set the fan speed while playing Heroes of the Storm or today is a really hot day. And my air conditioner is leaking water so I cannot turn it on.

Have you cleaned it and replaced th ethermal grease? Remove all dust and see if that improves anything.

HOTS causes my computer to shut off on the store, but that isdue to driver issues, apparently, haha.

You should be able to set your fan settings to automatically tune up so I don't know why you'd need to set it specifically every time you start one game.

And don't underestimate upgrading your case fans. Buying some Scythe Gentle Typhoons was one of my best purchases. Even had one dying on me that undied on its own without having to re-oil or replace. :P

ALSO - clean out your power supply. It gets neglected sometimes but it collects plenty of dust and can/will shut down your entire system randomly if it gets clogged.

I am just worried that I am back to where I started.

With playing demanding games can shut down my computer leaving me unable to be high end games I want to.

I usually just dust computers.

Really? I didn't know this - is this a global setting under GPU utilities or usually an in game one? Also, is there a way to cap frames at monitor max refresh rate globally besides Vsync, or (presuming Vsync IS a global setting) is turning it on enough?
