darktjm: #8, #12, #14 don't belong there, either, to name but a few. From the article: 361 codexers voted on 278 RPGs. Given my taste of what their forum has to offer, I wouldn't trust them to recommend me anything. My guess is that the same group of rabid fans that keeps trying to get it here pushed that game far too high on their list. It doesn't take much to tip that small a boat.

SirHandsome: I can understand rabid fans, why your dislike though?
Sounds like you disagree with 8, 12 and 14 because they are on the periphery of the RPG label rather than their quality.

I can appreciate the skepticism though, 22 is a big claim.

I am tired of seeing Torment as #1 on RPG lists. A number one all time game has to be a complete package, and Torment just isnt. Its well written, amazing world building, a lot of choices, but the combat sucks. Most would agree its sucks, yet people claim number one status when the game is self admittedly flawed.
Torment, the nearly 50 dollar incomplete game, smashed to bits by the reviews? That one?

Planescape: Torment, a classic game from the 90s, often thought to be still one of the best-written games ever made. Great story, great atmosphere, terrible combat, heavily story-driven. Sometimes even argued if it is an RPG in the first place.

That other Torment is a spiritual sequel to Planescape, but as spiritual sequels often do, it failed to compare despite not being a terrible game in the end.

Ah. Planescape does seem well regarded; but I do feel that having it ranked as Game of All Time would be calling it much, even for the category.
The big surprise here is that the Codex still has 361 active members in 2019.

SirHandsome: Well I went ahead and bought it on Itch.io and added it to my collection. Tried it out, UI's not bad, early 2000's feel to it, something like Wizardry 8 or Wizards and Warriors would be comperable.
I wish there was a PDF for the manual instead of an internet link to an online manual.
It feels like Wizadry 8 cause he is actual developer of Wizadry series.

The game was attempted to be shut down by you know who.
The same bots which gave me -100 rep
They...
Belittled the developer
Claimed he didn't develop his own game
Attack him and his family
Review bomb his game
Post his personal information photos/address
Accuse of being bigot , racist , sexist and much much worse.

They were upset male characters have +1 strength and female have +1 dex

As rock paper maginzine stated it wasn't "woke" enough.

Has Grimoire been updated anytime in the past 6 months or has the Grimoire game manual been converted from a HTMLdocument into a ebook (epub) or PDF yet?

Halloween sales events are looming for GOG and Steam, figuring Grimoire might be worth buying now if any of those things have happened.

When can I buy this game on GOG? Nowadays I'm reluctant to buy anything on Steam.

It looks like Grimoire will be released on GOG!

The user The-Business excavated the information (in the thread "Games that are *unofficially* confirmed for release on GOG in the future part 2") that a new person has been added to the GOG catalogue: Cleveland Mark Blakemore, that means: Grimoire!

If this will be true, that GOG really releases Grimoire, then this Christmas will be the best Chrismas in my life! :-)

(I can't post links.)

Oh, sir! That manual you asked for is ready!

Also, the game received an update just last month.

Release on gog seems imminent, so you may want to hold your breath just a little while longer.

Actually, no need to hold your breath any longer. Look here:

Ok, that's cool.

You one thing about Barefoot Essentials that I have to wonder why GOG hasn't put it in is that there's this obvious idiot light that reads, "434 days later" making acts of necromancy much harder to accidentally commit.

Maybe there should be another one that reads, "X days since last post."
