This for real? Can USA people confirm that? Is its signal easy to intercept from third party bastards, also...?

For me, this is important and it explains a lot. Some time ago, a shady person from local university (introduced as doc. running an international experiment on energy conservation through new technology), installed one in my house, claiming all this foolishness; energy conservation, checking your own consumption yourself, up to 2020 all houses to have one in them and by then obligatory, etc. I had no idea, allowed him to install one over my electricity clock plus one inside house. This explains a lot, because i have even internet interference... Clearing the history doesn't stop ads from stuff i visited before deleting history to keep popping up, when i log to my email service, down left side of the browser various unknown webpages flash through totally unrelated to the one of the mail service (even the one of that sh*tty university i mentioned before) and what's worse, in the past, persons who hacked me, doxxed me, forged faked evidence and trapped me in various cases i wasn't guilty of in any way, guess what, were professionally related to that SPECIFIC sh*tty university, on the field of electronics and computer science.

Can anyone confirm or deny and even better, shed some light over this very specific device and its implementation in homes?

If it is true, who cares? I'm not doing anything illegal and I pity the poor guy who has to monitor that surveillance footage. :P

OK first off, this would only applicable for you if you

1.) Would have insecure WIFI (if you would have)
2.) If you would be running your internet by the power company
3.) Or your ISP AND your power company would be one

Ads unfortunately are quite often powered by your search engine (i.e. you search for jobs, they will pop up)

Internet interference, only if your power company would use your internet. If you use cable NO F*cking way.
If you use WIFI, maybe....but then don't get me wrong, your mistake ;)

You can block WIFI by the use of MAC-addresses (to be done on your router)

On a proper router you can set up a lot of filtering and blocking, but such a device shall not (under any circumstances) connect to your internet connectivity it shall run with the power-grid.

Anything else, block them!

If you need more info PM me ;)

And your point of hacking MIGHT be unrelated, once you give your WIFI-password away, you might be doomed....If they hacked the university (not unlikely) they can get access to your details.

No, not being paranoid, but I work in this field ;)
Regarding those Smart Meters, we've had them here for quite few (at least 4 years now), the exact ones in the video. They were not an option, it was installed by the power company. Though, at the moment the remote reading feature (where they can access your info back at base) is not working and they still have to be "read" by a real person walking door to door like always. He has a handheld device that downloads the stored data. The meter has a bluetooth output as well, so that you can monitor your own power use habits...as can anyone else in range. Pretty useful for working out who is using growing lamps for...hydroponics and stuff.

Experiments like this often happen in Australia first, as they can judge the reactions in a smaller less volatile market. If it causes rioting in the streets, then they know not to move it to the bigger markets like the USA where everyone has guns.

And yes, potentially they could be used for dodgy purposes. But so far the real reason is for the power companies to charge more. It allows them to apply, say, double rates during peak times for power, So before the flat rate was say 19cents/kW, now peak is 32cents/kW whilst early morning off peak is 18 cents/kW. They also measure and record actual power that i put back to the grid (solar). So the main reason so far is simply the same one as always- make more money...or else why would the power companies spend millions doing it? Sale of power here is privatized.

I will resist biting your bait, as well as the temptation to answer properly to you. I need serious answers and not another thread faq up, this time. Or else you are GOING TO pity that guy. Because i know his identity. And mr. wisecrack, since i had two email addresses snatched away from me in the past and god only knows how they have been used for years, i am not doing anything illegal MYSELF, if that was what you implied.

Sorry TinyE, but we disagree ;) You always have something too hide ;)

plus, do you think that a world of complete control like 1984, Stasi, KGB is really such wonderful?

Yes, we are unfortunate getting there, in the name of terror........

I still recall the IRA....BUT our police and secret whatever were able to cope with those, just using legit normal ways to counter them.....

And don't get me wrong, the new so called threats are not as sophisticated as them, just our police is getting more dumb......

Nothing too hide....nice dream ;)

If you want to check out:

What about a (IIRC) a 5-year old not being able too fly anymore because of his name?

And there are a lot more fact around because of this..... ;)
That was a serious answer Bradley, which I realize isn't the norm for me, but I meant every word of that.

Thanks a lot. Number 1 is a yes, i have wifi AND insecure, suspicious person, close relative who also implicated me in stuff before, shared for some time knowledge of router password, too. About 3 it might be, might not, i don't know for certain. Much appreciated. Thanks for the reply and analysis. I was also wondering about how easy it is for third party persons to intercept its reading... In the past (and present), i had some *people* tailing and trailing me, complete strangers confronting me with info only i was in a position to know and others causing trouble and chaos in my path, be it a new job or a new social approach i had the unfortunate idea to initiate, while knowing (and foreseeing) the outcome beforehand and knowing that much. No need to bother solving the issue though, now it is too late... And i am a complete noob in technology, you would get a grandpa hooked with an android easier than me handling such settings. Besides, there is no point, i am fully destroyed already, unless i change country. So, the only thing that sparks my fancy, is INFO... I appreciate anyone able to feed me that.

Apologies, then. I am more edgy than normal. I came up with certain "revelations" that made my skin crawl with disgust. My eyes have been opened in the most real sense. But its too late, anyway. After all, your wish from before might come true... I bet you happy now.

Sorry friend, but you are wrong. We don't need to watched or bugged or whatever
in our own homes.

It's not a matter of breaking the law (us) but rather a matter of privacy intrusion.

No, not too late ;)

Change your passwords
Change if necessary your emails
change the password of your router (WIFI)
Block ALL unknown MAC's
Change your encryption too (IRRC) WAP2, it WILL block out anyone else, using YOU in the moment ;)
Do NOT allow full access (in case of multiple PC) on your LAN, make it only to transfer folders.

Use different search engines for different things

the list is long, and I need to sleep ;)

But as I said PM me and we CAN improve your situation ;)

And no, changing country is not necessary, unless out of other reasons, you bloody Greek ;) (for all you not know, this is a JOKE)
Exactly. It's not the point of whether or not I'm doing anything wrong, but I have the right to do anything I want until someone has a reason to want to stop me. And illegally searching my life for reasons will not satisfy my needs.
A whole-house smart meter tracks your private activities the same way a gas pump tracks your driving patterns for that tank of fuel.

A single meter at the point of entry to your home can't do the type of stuff he's talking about. "They see how many watts your electric toothbrush pulls..." Uh, no. They see watts consumed, and when. The meters have no idea whether it's an electric toothbrush, a "personal massager", or if you're charging 15 burner cell phones for your terrorist cell.

I have a Kill-A-Watt unit that measures the power use of a single specific plugged-in device, and even THAT one has no idea what particular device is being monitored even though it's a direct one-on-one electrical connection.

Took all of 22 seconds of that video to see that he's REALLY taking liberties when describing what these things can do. For the power company to monitor your activities as he implies - to the point where they would know WHICH devices you're using at any given time - all of your electrical devices would need to send data to the smart meter. They don't.

But if you're really concerned, there is a solution: take your energy needs off the grid.

Or you can just start shooting down the drones that fly over your house.*

Of course, that guy did get arrested. :P

*To all of you unaware, that actually happened yesterday. XD

I'm saving my ammo for better uses, like fighting off the UN "peacekeeping" invaders. Besides, the tin foil helmet protects me from drone surveillance.
Then of course, instead of having to deal with the typical idiots, i could always try my luck on some DLP program. But they are far from foolproof and far from cheap.
