GameRager: Not to sound callous/mean....but please don't use appeals to emotion(even if bad personal stories) to try and win a debate.
Also what does the last bit of part 1 mean? That you think women being sexy leads to assault?
HappyPunkPotato: That's the trouble, I like having a chat online but everyone else seems intent on winning a debate. It's not an emotional appeal, just the reason why I don't "embrace my sexiness". I have faced things like this if I dress more womanly, if I dress in baggy clothes I don't.
LootHunter: I mean exactly what YOU mean. You asked - how many male characters are there who are only there for women to ogle?
Now I'm asking you - how many women are interested in such characters.
HappyPunkPotato: I have no idea what most women are attracted to but why does every character in a game need to be sexually attractive to someone to be a valid part of the game?
HappyPunkPotato: Didn't read it, perhaps your fish would be more interested in what you have to say?
richlind33: Would you agree that we should should all be able to play the kinds of games we want to, and should stop trying to control each other?
HappyPunkPotato: Of course I agree and I never said otherwise. Just that I personally don't like certain things.
1. I'm sorry then if I assumed something I shouldn't have. It just seems(like with you seeing other people wanting debates and to win) that many like to rely on emotional details/info to win such debates more easily online and it's those people i'm wary of(and when I see people posting emotional tales during back and forth I tend to assume they might be pulling such, but I now get that that wasn't the case with you).
I am also sorry you have faced such issues, btw.
2. Not who you replied to but: They don't have to be sexy but it appeals to many people and can even be used as a valid tool in showcasing a character/world setting if done right/in the right game/genre/etc.
One could easily also ask why have people shoot or fight in some games? Or why have action of any sort in some games? It appeals to people and sells product and also sometimes helps make a story/world more immersive to some(if done right).
3. While fronz is very crude/crass I do hope you reported it at the very least.
4. And that is a fair stance to have.
HappyPunkPotato: Hi OP, sorry for helping to derail your thread!
BreOl72: The derailing of the thread is not so much the problem.
Heck, I have derailed other people's threads in the past, too.
It's more the direction that the derailed thread has taken.
What direction? People discussing the pandering being done in media on behalf of various groups or just the general derailing topics being shot back and forth?
If it's the former then one would have assumed that such a topic would've garnered people discussing that topic in a more general/broader sense at the very least.
