Three old strategy games created by Sid Meier and Ed Bever are being sold again on steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1703100/Crusade_in_Europe/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1703040/Decision_in_the_Desert/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1703060/Conflict_in_Vietnam/

While the interface and graphics will probably repel some, they'll likely make some Strategy Grognards relive their youth.

Here're the Wishlist entries if you'd like to buy them on GOG:
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/crusade_in_europe

Well done and voted.

What we need is a master thread of old games gog doesn't yet have along with wishlist links. Maybe that would help in getting more old game releases here.
It could be GOG "curation" or perhaps Atari ignoring GOG. strange since those old games would fit well here of course, and the price isn't too outrageous. (preferably GOG would get the bundle of the three games that has a 25% discount also)

granted only Conflict in Vietnam has a decent number of wishlist votes but imo that shouldn't be a barrier in this case

You have NO CHANCE of those EGA/CGA games coming here. Forgot the drama when "Laura Bow 1" arrived here?

Everyone was "That graphics are ugly, would not buy it.... should be free...." and so on, and so on.

Nice, the amount of time I sank into Crusade in Europe when I was a kid is insane.
Worst of it was I played it on a monochrome monitor and couldn't see the objectives so I never won a single battle, it would also crash on occasion.
It's not even about the graphics. Ancient strategy games have a way of aging badly.
Oh man, I hope we get them here. Never played them but it would be very cool, looks fun.

One of my favourite games on Steam right now is a Command-inspired game called Armoured Commander II (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1292020/Armoured_Commander_II/), which is a modern Indie game take on these old wargames.
One thing I was always surprised is how interested Sid Meier was in develop real tme games. He considered an advancement computers could offer and differentiate from the very popular tabletop games.

Funny considering he created one of the most iconic turn based strategy games ever. His name means Today Turn Based Games, indeed

The games were very popular at the time, and very fun and wanted to be easy to use, but probably today they are hard to taste for any non veteran user. It is not the graphics I like them, I grew up with them. Acquired taste.
Wargames of that era, and even in real time can be a let down for new generations. But I am interested in them.

The solution? Read the manual. Be a wargames fan and have open mind for old gameplay and intrincacies

Other wargames I liked a lot in the 8 bit era were Arnhem, Desert Rats, Vulcan, from the later designer of Rome Total War.

Nah, if they were VGA or SVGA you wouldn't be saying that. EGA and CGA just doesn't look good. The 80's was a graphical dark age for the IBM PC, it was only like 1990 before PC really became equal to Amiga and Nintendo graphics wise.
I just can't see many people buying them for $10 a piece (my currency) except the hardcore collector. Should be freeware.

Bingo! That's the graphics, I grew up with. :)
Are these actually any good? I don't mean the graphics which is fine, but the overall gameplay. I also think not all wargames aged well although some did.
