It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Engerek01: Hey, can you or someone else guide me how to have a taskbar like you have here for Linux Mint 18? I have been trying to have one like that, I see themes that look like that but once I install them, they still look like a regular windows XP-Vista task bar.

vicklemos: Hummm good question; it's the default one since I didn't do a thing to look like this.
That's all I know ;)
Still, thank you for taking your time to answer.

muntdefems: That's not a theme, but the Unity desktop that comes (or used to come) by default with Ubuntu. AFAIK it isn't available through the official Mint package repositories, but if you really want to have a desktop like that you can either:

Thank you for the options. I was using Mint 18.0 (which had cinnamon 3.0). I learned that it was not possible to have vertical panels in that version of cinnamon so I upgraded to Mint 18.1, which has Cinnamon 3.2.7. I was now able to do what I wanted. I attached a screenshot for the simple result.

Thank you both for your time. It showed me the way how to achieve what I wanted.

My current desktop, Mint 17.3. Standard theme, hidden cinnamon bar, and a background inspired by Fallout and Tux. Finally got it cleaned up a bit :P

Nice! Glad you could get the look you wanted without having to switch distros. :)
I've bought a Raspberry Pi 3B a few months back and installed RetroPie 4.2 on it.
Currently adding a lot of my old games on the system.

Made a few posts on setting up some of these games here:

A few days ago I installed Linux Mint 20 MATE over my old installation of Linux Mint 18.3 MATE. I finally fully set up the system to my liking appearance-wise (still trying to see how many things changed from 18.3 to 20 - I skipped an entire version after all). Here's how it looks right now (nb: I removed my username from the home folder shortcut, because it's my RL first name):

I've really come to enjoy WindowMaker.

I'll be probably jumping to Fedrora 33 after the beta freeze is over.
