You can rent consoles? O_o
Where can you do this?
Sounds like one insane marathon you've got planned. From what I've heard though, you might need a second week.
Is this a game you really want to rush through? The developers have said there is waaay more than 100hrs if game play, like three hundred (http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2015/03/30/the-witcher-3-gameplay-length-could-be-in-the-hundreds-of-hours/). It looks like it's gonna be elder scrolls big, and I would not have like any of those games nearly as much if I had to rush through it.

I don't buy into the hype of the game being 200 hours+, the story mode ain't going to be super long either (from what I saw from the leak documents). I'm guessing about 35-45 hours for story(normal speed play) + 25-50 hours of sidequests. (possible more but thats for the person that must have everything from clothes to herbs to potions, etc). If it has more than that it's another skyrim with tons of quests that come out of nowhere and are a drag to play & complete aka filler content.
^ just do what you think is best for you
Snowkatt, as usual, has the right idea.

If you judge that renting a console and ploughing through the game in a week is your best option to play the game, do that. I can say without hesitation that it wouldn't be my choice but that I would rather wait a year or two until I could upgrade my machine. But then, I'm not planning on getting married this year, and besides, I'm busy making my way through Pillars of Eternity, stopping every few metres to cry tears of joy because I can barely believe that Baldur's Gate is back. I likely won't have time for The Witcher 3 for another few months.

Some what of a pointless question but if you had to pick(just one) which would you buy: Pillars of Eternity or The Witcher 3?

Ouch. I... don't know... Chinese water torture? Maybe?

But really, I am heavily biased, and my opinion might therefore not be worth one iota.

The Witcher is a wonderful game and an awesome world to travel around in, but as far as I'm concerned, Baldur's Gate and its Infinity Engine siblings are the best games that ever existed, and playing Pillars of Eternity feels as if I have been forced to leave a child in their teens over a dozen years ago, remembering them as they were then, and just now being able to see them again, as adult. It's the same, yet grown, changed. So many memories and feelings that well up.

Huh, I've been looking at that game(PoE) for some time now and I do hear a lot of good things about it.. Maybe I should wait a few years for TW3(or just watch it on youtube) and buy PoE later this year when a good sale comes up..
Thanks for your opinion :)

If you have played and enjoyed Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and their respective sequels, Pillar's of Eternity should be a welcome sight. If you haven't, you should be aware that the game is very much rooted in the style of those games and is a much less "modern" game compared to, say, Dragon Age: Origins, which likewise was said to be a spritual successor to Baldur's Gate (and which I also enjoyed).

comradegarry: .......
From another Linux user's point of view I kinda understand how it feels, renting though may not be the best idea. It's better to wait to upgrade your system, not only it will benefit other games but it will be also yours to keep. Buying a Windows copy just for the game would be a waste.

It sucks but the best suggestion I can give is to wait a few months and see how things roll out for news about a possible Linux version of the game. CDPR already invested in Witcher 2 for Linux and the first game also got an upgrade for the Mac, no doubt this shows that they have an interest in bringing the game to non Windows / Console platforms.

I'm going to be optimistic that at some point there will be a Witcher 3 for Linux and I'll have a great time with it. Until then I still have many great games to play.
