Anyone able to suggest which to get?

I played a HD Resident Evil on Gamecube, so I don't know if that counts and in my ignorance I am leaning towards Revelations 2.

Looking forward to any suggestions. Thanks for reading.
Resident Evil HD is fantastic. One of the best games ever made.
Can't directly address Revelations 2, but Revelations 1 was just okay. Not bad, not great. A little more "Resident Evil-like" than 4, 5 and especially 6, but not nearly as survival horror as 1, 2, 3, Zero or Code: Veronica.
Kind of depends if you can deal with some of the old school mechanics. The new control system on HD is okay, but I honestly feel like it just doesn't mesh well with the static camera angles. You can still use the tank controls thankfully. The inventory system may also take some getting used to if you've never played much old-school RE.
So, I'd say definitely get RE HD unless you can't deal with some of the retro mechanics, but in my opinion (as an old school RE fan) RE HD gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me. The only better survival horror games ever are Silent Hill 2 & 3.
I can't attest to the quality of the other episodes since I only played episode 1 of Rev 2.
It was absoluty terrible. A boring slog. Multiplayer makes it worse since player 2 will be stuck with a useless character. The mouse aim is an emulation of a joystick and thus feels terrible. You might like Raid mode, but you could just play that in Rev1.
resident evil HD
might as well start with the very first game revelations 2 is so far removed from what you know about resident evil its not worth the bother resi 2 3 code veronica 4 5 revelations mercenaries and 6 are between the two
Thanks and +'s for the replies :)

I played 1,2 on PS1, CV on PS2, 4 on PS2 and GC (plus 0,1,2,3 CV) 5 360 and PS3 and 6 and Revelation 1 on 360, so I'm pretty used to the franchise I guess.

Thank you again :)

I would go with Resident Evil HD, i didn't played it back then though so it was a new experience for me (but i did play RE0, 3, CV and 5), i didn't like RE Revelations 1 demo because it was... not RE, monsters instead of zombies, bullet sponge enemies and some kind of rpg~ish level up system...
One day i'll give RE Rev 2 a try whenever it gets really cheap (or on ps+) to see what is that horde mode all about...

Do you still have the Gamecube version? If you do, you'd be better off getting Revelations 2 since basically RE HD is the same thing as on GC, but in higher resolution.

Unless you find the GC graphics too dated now. Personally I think it holds up really well, and I see no point in getting the HD version.
^ that works
if you have the cube version still buy revelations 2
if not buy the hd remake

Totally agree ^_^
Resi HD of course. Revelations games aren't bad but as a whole, Resi 6 is better use of your money.

he already played 6 spuddie
the question is if the HD remake is worth it over revelations 2

and if he ( or she ) still has the cube version ( or can get the cube version ) then its not worth getting the HD remake

either are a huge step up from the ps1 version though

That's a matter of opinion really. I mean having a back up on PC that generally looks nicer and has potential for mods etc is a good reason to get it.

(He) :)

Played and loved 6, especially the last missions with Ada which explained the whole story, I thought it was a great way to expose the plot like that.

Yes I still have the GC and all the games, so I guess I'll get Rev 2

Thanks and +'s for the replies all, much appreciated.
