WIth Galaxy's support of multiplayer, should CDPR also make available M59?
It's a classic MMO,the first 3D MMO,and I think it qualifies as a Good Old Game.SOme of you may have memories of the game and I think it deserves a place here due to GOG's new multiplayer support and on how it impacted the industry.
I also think that the game will benefit with the attention since the community is pretty small but very dedicated.
What are your thoughts?
I wouldn't mind if it had offline version (Does it have? Some old MMOs got them, like Yserbian trilogy for example). Otherwise I don't see much point in having MMOs on GOG. Always-online requirement to play games is bordering dangerously close with DRM.

Edit: AND the link doesn't work.

MMO's are an exception. The "O" is there for a reason. It's just a bit difficult with games like Elite Dangerous, SimCity and Diablo 3, where the developer/publisher says it's designed to be a "multiplayer" game where you don't have to play with others :P But I don't see any of them on GOG anyway ;)

I totally agree, and it was my first idea also. So, no, I personally wouldn't want to see any online only games here.

But...but... it's an MMO. It must be always online to be played. You are misinterpreting the very concept of DRM

If it were a single player only game that needed to be online persistently then that would be something to complain about. However, a multiplayer only game shouldn't warrant the same complaint.

SimCity (2013) now has an offline mode.

They implemented it after the disaster that was the launch. Meridian,as well as all MMOs,I agree with being always online because they are meant to be that way.
D3,SimCity and U(don't)Play games are ridiculous because have single player and with the option to go multi.

My bad, should have replied to the other.

Speaking about it, Terraria world should need to be online persistently for decent multiplayer and it might feel subjectively awkward for some to play it solo.

I remember similar arguments being brought when long-awaited Diablo 3 was announced to be always online. A lot of people suddenly started to defend it, because Diablo "was always more multiplayer in its nature".

There is also a notion for MMOs to replace single-player games, and people playing MMOs for their single-player aspect. It might make other people question if such-and-such game was made MMO for the sole purpose of DRM and for other non-gaming reasons while it could be actually a good single-player?

And there are a lot of people who play MMOs solo just for the big worlds and game mechanics.

So no. If Meridian 59 received decent offline mode, it might be worth to have it here maybe, otherwise we better not venture into this "multiplayer-only" territory.

No, I don't. If it did come here, then GOG will just do the same that Steam does; facilitate access to the game. By this I mean in the way that we still need an account with the MMO's site and we'd still have to use the MMO's launcher etc.

I agree with the post above saying 'we better not venture into this multiplayer-only territory' as I don't think this is what GOG is about or ever will be about if the community has a say in the matter.

Dude, MMOs are games created for online multiplayer only.
Diablo isn't a MMO, and it had single offline player in the previous titles. D3 online is just an annoying trick to avoid piracy.
So for me, with a clear notice, Meridian59 online wouldn't be a great issue (but I never played it).

Diablo III has an offline mode, but only on consoles. :P
