Swampland: It's a beta version, so some functions aren't implemented yet. And this particular functionality really needs to work flawlessly, otherwise people will use weaknesses of the beta version to get credit card information.
I'm running a successful internet business myself and I'd never dare even considering to release a client with a shop that isn't functioning flawlessly. I'd rather hold it back until it's ready rather than offering something that isn't working correctly. A shop that is in the client, but doesn't work is the best way to piss off any potential customers because it provides an extremely negative first impression. Many people in my shoes would have told GOG to go screw themself and purchased the games on Steam, rather than dealing with a non-functional shop and a buggy client that's severely lacking in terms of clarity.
I understand this is still beta and all but I doubt average customer Joe will have the patience and will tolook for a solution on his own when the GOG client's shop isn't working. Horrible first impression, tbh. This is the very first company I've ever seen that doesn't give a damn about a functioning shop. Kinda incomprehensible...
