Ever since Steam opened up its store to so much hentai it is like an avalanche of titles appeared. You can find the hidden gems of games because hentai covers everything.
Now I see that GOG has caught on and has decided to sink to a new low by selling adult games with sex, nudity, sexual content, etc.
I have to say I am disappointed that GOG has apparently decided to jump into the market of selling games that really can't be considered games.
I am not a prude, or a christian zealot or one of those looking to keep inappropriate content off gaming sites. I respect the rights of others to have access to games they want just as much as I want games for sale here. However how many of these titles will we now have to sort through to actual get to games, actual games that aren't dependent on the lowest level of gaming, nudity and sex.
The problem is if you filter games like that out, other games, good games where the point of the nudity isn't the central theme would be blocked. Games in the Witcher Series come to mind. There is nudity, some sexual content but it is done in a way that it isn't the central theme or biggest part of the game. If adults need these titles, why can't they be put on an alternate gog or steam site rather than filling the virtual gaming shelves with quality games, classics and favorite games with games whose only purpose is to provide experiences that someone didn't care to go to a porn site to see the real thing. Yes I am sure these games are like any game, you either like 'em or you don't. Just why now GOG is joining in the sex wars to help these products flourish like weeds in grass.
I don't what to say other than I was really disappointed tonight when I visited the store and saw the new adult titles or sorry cartoonish or as close to looking like real people but with outrageous proportions to the women. I know others will feel strongly in the other direction saying games are meant as an escape from reality and adult themed sex and nudity games are just as much gaming as playing doom, quake, civilization and other great titles that are part of gaming. If you are going to be heading in that direction, we really need a button to put "dislike or ignore" like steam so we can quickly filter these titles out of all the games you sell.
I know this is a first amendment issue, however it shows the worst of gaming and just helps to add fuel to all those who think games make people into mass murderers or serial killers or whatever people have used to try and regulate the gaming industry. All I can say I was so disappointed to see GOG join Steam in the Smut gaming niche. There are great wargames, games of strategy and simulators yet we don't see them here. So why this niche market is now finding a new place to flourish I don't understand.
