FrodoBaggins: And yes, I know the boys who think it's okay to degrade women like this, will downvote me.
First off I would not call hand drawn or rendered characters "men" or "women", though yes, through visuals they appeal mostly to the sexual fantasies and desires of men. But remember: "Ceci n'est pas une pipe". A representation of a thing is not that thing.

Secondly, most men would jump at the chance to have a submissive and awesome looking partner who "degrades" herself by acting our their every desire... but a desire or preference can't be degrading unless you choose to play real people into doing things they don't really want to do, knowing it is wrong. For the vast majority of men that's all this is - a (sexual) fantasy, and most would not take it beyond that.

Just like you may occasionally like to imagine how spending a night with a submissive "Magic Mike" would be, I don't think you'd actually go ahead and do it... or say that you are degrading "Magic Mike" because of it. Or that you'd be doing it by playing a game which portrays this fantasy using depictions of overly-sexualized "men".

Just like I don't expect a walk in the park to turn into a Doom level in which I decapitate alien monsters, I wouldn't expect a relationship with a woman to turn into demonic sex with a succubus...

I know this is a public forum and people are people (very different animals, which is why generalizing never works well), but as adults I feel we shouldn't be having these sort of conversations...

Nobody's degrading anybody, this is not a war of humiliation or anything. Most of us are simply mortal beings with limited time in this reality, trying to find our peace and happiness, be it alone or with other people. Just let people enjoy things, whatever those are, as long as they're not actually hurting anyone.

My 2 cents.

timppu: That's how the nature built us men. We are visual animals, and are aroused by sexual objects like bulging titties and such.
For the record can I just say there are some of us who prefer the more modest, regular non-bulging type of titties :P. I'm actually a bit put off when I see games portraying "women" with ridiculously large breasts... imagine what horrendous back pains they'd have. And how those titties would look when they'd get old... still excited? :D

Been noticing this trend too. Was hoping GoG wouldn't turn into a worse version of Steam (at least Steam lets you hide the trash), but here we are. It's sad to see what GoG has become over the years.

Timboli: On top of that, I kind of find it ironic that they are called Adult Only games, when really most mature adults don't bother with such games usually. In my experience it is older teens and young adults that mostly care for such things, so there is a juvenile element.
I always found it hilarious that, in a book store for example, you'll find genuine masterpieces of literature like Alice in Wonderland and Wind in the Willows in the "children's" section, and labeled "adult" you'll find stuff like 50 Shades of Grey. Seeing that it's hard not think that people must get dumber as they grow up :D

Sabertooth007: You can find the hidden gems of games because hentai covers everything.
I assume you mean can't in this quoted bit? If that's the case: this statement is incorrect, and also somewhat hyperbolic

Sabertooth007: I am not a prude,
Yet you make a very prudish sounding post(wording/etc).
avatar
Sabertooth007: If you are going to be heading in that direction, we really need a button to put "dislike or ignore" like steam so we can quickly filter these titles out of all the games you sell.
I do agree a filter(for various things beyond just adult games) would be nice, though.

Sabertooth007: ...... it shows the worst of gaming and just helps to add fuel to all those who think games make people into.....
Do you honestly think if adult games went away(or at least weren't sold on Gog) that such types wouldn't try to regulate games ever again? Really?

Fyi: the games such types often found/find fault with were/are heavily violent titles like GTA and the like....not with the kind of games that GOG is now starting to sell.

FrodoBaggins: And as a woman, I find it offensive that these kind of titles only parade half-naked women, with their privates bulging out, like objects.
What about the near equal amount of games that parade men around the same way? You feel the same about them or no?

Just because one performs actions in a game, that doesn't mean they do(or would do) the same IRL**. Also you seem to be forgetting one thing......they're fictional(i.e. not real people).

(**example: Just because someone plays mario games, they're not going to start jumping on turtles or think it's ok to do so)

Yep, cannot disagree with you there.

I'm not against people never entirely growing up, instead of becoming some sort of Mr or Mrs. Mature ... I couldn't think of anything worse ... me, I like to stay in touch with my inner child, and enjoy life. But some seem to skip maturity altogether, certainly with their taste in things.

That said, I like a good old dose of silliness ... aka Monty Python or Mr. Bean or Red Green etc etc. They appeal to the satirist in me.

I don't have a problem with stores selling different types of games including of this nature, but what would be nice is if they also added a far superior filtering system so that people can opt out of certain types of games. Steam has such a system that is partially useful but also somewhat limited and inadequate to be totally usable.

It'd definitely be nice to have filters to filter out various types of content be it for moral reasons or simply just personal preferences of individuals. Also, for certain types of content it might make sense to have portals on the website specifically for the particular type of content which makes it even easier for people who want the particular content to find it.

Perhaps they would consider doing something like that in the future when they're profitable enough to hire people to do well.. anything. :)

Snowslinger: As much as it hurts to admit, GOG has become a dumpster fire. I assume that porn is just a way to keep their heads above water by making a quick buck. It is just another thing that pushes me away from this store. On top of that is the inferior service and abandoned/unfinished Galaxy. I am not a DMR free zealot, so this year I'll just go to the competition, where the deal is better more often than not. GOG, either you make some decent improvements or it's GG from me.
hope they will start to improve, drm-free just wont work as an excuse for everything

I'm not against hentai games, always want to see more games here, but I wish GOG also bring other games like Rekker, Cruelty Squad, and many other often skipped like Selaco,I don't know what happen with that one!

I still not understand why are people so much against selling adult games. If you're interested you can buy them. If no, just easily skip them.
End of story.

I find all this Hentai stuff polluting the site sad and disgusting.

If you're going to have sex and glorious titties then it should be old school FMV style games.

In all seriousness I wouldn't have them all over the main page but GOG is a private company so it's their choice. It is ironic though given it's the era of #metoo and wokeness.

FrodoBaggins: I've been extremely disappointed with this, as well.
This is supposed to be a gaming site, not a tacky porn club for boys.

And as a woman, I find it offensive that these kind of titles only parade half-naked women, with their privates bulging out, like objects.

Make no mistake - these titles clearly objectify women. When your sales correlate with the square root of the volume of the breast size of your female characters in your games, you do your best to go Tomb Raider on them. In the same vein, make no mistake, entertainment goods rarely if ever affect RL behaviour. So many studies have shown no link between violent games and violent behaviour and the same is probably true here. So even if you enjoy some perverse sexual stuff in your fiction, you would never dream of it in RL.

I do agree though, the selection offered caters to men completely. It's completely lopsided. And that's most likely due to demand and supply.

Have to say, the target demographic is ripe for exploitation with these games. Guess why they're successful. Socially awkward and inept young single men flocking to fantasise about submissively moaning young girls, who have nothing interesting to contribute, outside their attractive appearance. I.e. objects. Doesn't help with their empathy quotient I think.
