trentonlf: Sad part is, I watched the whole video and liked it :-/
Sad indeed.
I come from a rather "rude" country, meaning that while we do use please and thank you, we typically don't beat around the bush with many pleasantries and are rather direct. Kinda loud, too. We normally wouldn't get offended by those, but traveling as much as I do, I sametimes get weird looks for being too direct while talking. It's a bit hard for me to keep that in mind. And I find the empty pleasantries of strangers quite annoying, but I do my best to put up with them.
It's all a matter of habit, I suppose. In some places, pleasantries are standard and not using them is rude. In other places, pleasantries are only used when you really mean them, and nobody will care if you don't use them.
