Hello,
I have been running my same old 1920x1200 for years, however I have recently been looking at upgrading to UHD/QHD (4k) as well as one of the 21:9 monitors.

What I play here is Dungeon Keeper, Descent Series, Wing Commander Series, most of the D&D/Ultima games, and the Starwars based sims and RPG's. Are there any scaling issues here, do the games freak out and tend to have issues? I doubt it would matter but have older games had issues with GSync?

Not a gog title (yet?) but also the MW2 games and Daggerfall I play through DOSBox, any oddball issues with scaling either for 21:9 or maybe 4k?

Thanks!

Yeah but the alternative is everything gets stretched out.

I know maybe set custom resolutions! some games support 21:9 already so you set the dos game to the native resolution black borders suck but so does stretching it's a Lose/Lose situation No reason to get 4k most games Don't use it! I'd prefer a Projector if I could afford one!

My best guess is that if you buy a 21:9 monitor, you're going to regret it very very quickly. What do you want with such an oddball aspect ratio on your computer? Do you watch many movies on your PC?
Even new AAA releases often don't support 21:9. If you buy one you better get used to black bars for the majority of software.
OK, I figured it would be something like that, unfortunate. I Do watch movies on my PC as well, so that would be a plus. I work in the video card industry and see a lot of higher res setups and really liked using them, also have used the monitor spanning options from NVidia and AMD and rather liked them, however I do NOT have that much room, so the 21:9 caught my eye. Was not sold, hence why I asked here to see if things scaled well, and not so much. 21:9 is off the table.

I suppose why I thought it may work well was that most of these games here are from the 4:3 days in DOS and they work fine at 16:9/16:10 without issue, so it couldn't hurt to ask on 21:9.
My dumb opinion is the minor letterboxing for widescreen movies on 16:9 will be less troublesome than the much more significant one for 4:3 traditional games on 21:9.

Also, I'm curious, how many movies that you would watch are released in the wide-movie format anyway?
There are Not many Ultra wide format Cinema edition Movies out even now! Just get the Biggest 16:10 monitor you could get like this one for example http://www.samsung.com/ae/business/business-products/smart-signage/general-display/LH55DBDPLGC/NG

NICE!

This is more a TV than a comp monitor, who would want only FHD with a 55" screen? For such a size you can get 4k without scaling in desktop. And this is just 16:9. I use this resolution on my laptop without scaling and problems ;)

A huge montor that can be run without scaling and with high resolution with games in window mode would be my choice, IF i needed one and IF i had the money. So you could have everything on screen :)
