To refresh memory: Thimbleweed Park is a kickstarted old-school point 'n' click by Ron Gilbert in full Maniac Mansion style:

They got a lot of money indeed but Ron felt the need to clarify their expenses so here's goes a full blog post with even a detailed spreadsheet included so people know how the money is really spent:

I really thought that read Rhod Gilbert the comedian, would have been an instabuy as that guys angst ridden rants is right up my street.
Really fascinating read. I've seen a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff about video games over the years, but I've never seen a budget breakdown this in-depth. Very informative and enlightening.

LOL, that raised my eyebrow too but in fact those numbers are not $ but the numbers of paid/spent hours (the hourly paying rates on the left are hidden)

Ahh, thanks for clarifying. The sheet makes a bit more sense, now!
how do you become a tester? I mean qualifications.Sounds like a cool job
Interesting article! When the kickstarter first showed up, a lot of people I know complained along the lines of "They're asking for so much money? But the game looks like crap! KICKSTARTER EVILLLLL!!!!"

Is actually a gruelling and draining job. You're not so much playing a game you'd love as you are constantly repeating the same actions over and over every time, making note of what happens, going through specific sequences of actions (sometimes not even tangentially related to the playing of the game), just to test if something got fixed, etc. It's always funny to me when I see "beta tester" as a tier on kickstarter projects.

But it doesn't really require any qualifications :D.
At least they've got the pixel art-style right for an "old-school LucasArts adventure", unlike that phone game Time Schafer made.

Which game was that exactly? Could do with a good mobile game.

Grim Fandango. ;)

(Which unfortunately doesn't run on my Galaxy Tab S, and neither does Broken Age.)

Yeah, really annoying. Unfortunately the Mali GPU in the tablet apparently has a driver bug which prevents the game from running.

And what is wrong with it exactly? Does it have controller support? Does that hurt your PC Elite butt? :( Aww baby!
