If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past year of covering PC games, it’s that players really love downloading additional launchers to play their games. Rockstar is the latest to capitalise on this beloved trend, and you can now download the Rockstar Games Launcher to see the results for yourself – and snag a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas while you’re at it.

Why is your post written as a press release? Are you an employee of Rockstar? :P
I love that the description says "all the latest" and at the same time it ends with a free copy of one of the earliest. :P

All that said and done, mandatory: "Oh, no! Not Another Client!" XD

I don't care. I already have San Andreas, but maybe I'll get it anyway?

I just copy and paste sorry.
Any system requirements for the launcher.

Speaking from personal experience, it won't run on Windows Vista (won't even begin the install process) so assume that XP is likely off the table as well.
Please tell me that this won’t give Rockstar a reason to remove all their games from Steam. I know that it doesn’t say anything about that but the slippery slope just got a lot more slippery. Would really suck to have yet another DRM client running and taking up CPU time and RAM :/. Cheers
Hmmm. So from now on I have two alternatives to get San Andreas free: I could either download that piece of junk that is probably both a nasty DRM enforcer and a telemetry device posing as a launcher

OR

I could download a pirated copy of San Andreas, with the benefit that no one can complain about "lost sales" when Rockstar is going to receive the exact same amount from me if I take this "offer" instead.

Both options have their downsides, but I think I see which one is clearly the better product.

(Let me make it clear that if Rockstar weren't giving it I wouldn't even bring up this possibility)
It's not the original version though with the missing music, right? I bought that years ago and have a version installed in my machine.
Me thinks any future Rockstar release on pc will be a Rockstar client exclusive. If Rockstar intends on bringing Red Dead Redemption 2 to pc, I think the 'delay' may have been due to getting their new client ready for pc exclusives. This is just speculation of course but I think it's at least plausible.
If your speculations become truth, I can bury my hopes to see any GTA game on GOG in near future :(

I agree 100%.

The only thing making the situation in games more palatable than this issue in streaming movies / tv distribution is that -- so far -- games aren't distributed on subscription basis. It may be a pain to have many launchers, but at least the fees aren't racking up... yet.
Well I haven't bought or played GTA V, and it seems now this Rockstar launcher is needed for it to be active even when playing on Steam.

Although they are not giving it for free....

You have other option, just don´t get the game of either way and wait eternally it will come to GOG
Oh YAY another launcher, FCK THAT!
