warchickensteam: It was basically Car Wars with less vehicle customization but more on gang management. Food, ammo, tires, fuel, and guns were essential. You could upgrade the armor on the vehicle sides. Upgrade the weapons used by the people riding in them from crossbows to guns. (It would switch back to crossbows if you had no ammo). You could ram other vehicles. The top down map did its best to allow some tactical combat. And I think you could have like 15 vehicles(I think there were like 12 vehicle types). Going to risk the abandonia one. Can't believe no one tried to make a better Roadwar 2000. I remember not caring about the story and just kept conquering city after city.
Tarnicus: And turn-based too from what I read? It looks like a game that if remade, would do very well :)
Yeah, it was a mix of turn-based tactical combat and maneuver, crew and resource management, and exploration, with a story backdrop. Interesting and challenging. I'm trying to come up with a comparable game but am drawing a blank. The first that comes to mind - and it's only a few elements of the big picture - is FTL. But that's not really right, either. Car Wars table-top game (not the PC game AutoDuel), as mentioned, is also similar. Maybe something like Car Wars meets Port Royale or Pirates?
Dunno - it's hard to compare Roadwar 2000, at least from the games bumping around in my past.
