Arundir: The moment when moderation itself becomes toxic and starts to eradicate established community.threads
This forum used to be a welcoming, pleasant place to be... before GOG started with the heavy handed moderation... it's almost like censorship and tone policing creates a hostile, resentment filled environment, weird huh.

When I first joined I loved the forum here, staff replied and joked with you, the mass downvote either was not there or hadn't been found it legit was one of the best forums I found, community was nice, I enjoyed it there.

Now I don't post as much due to the coldness that seems to be here, downvote is a thing, staff don't really engage like they did now its usually relating to business and even then your lucky if they do, the overzealous changes today to the COC and the broken forum (purple dot, etc.)

I just find it not worth it which makes me sad, and makes me less buying from GOG.

looks like gog is missing out many purchases due to failing forum

Isn't it amazing how gog's support staff is allegedly so overworked that a simple refund request will go unanswered for weeks on end, yet their moderators (who also happen to be their support staff) have the time to go through the Zoom thread and delete links post by post?

PRIORITIES!

I can't help but feel that SmollestLight is actually mocking users with some of her comments.
I'm probably mostly done with buying new games anyway, so Gog won't miss much from me, but still, it's a joke to claim this is about "improving the community", and Gog would deserve losing customers for this kind of moderation.

Don't forget this useful 4 year old thread either:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_drmfree_video_games_digital_distributors/page1

What if, for once, you just admit you shouldn't have done this and unlock both threads?

That's my issue too. If the CoC is about making the forums a nicer place to be, how does closing a 13 year old and universally popular thread improve anything? All it does is demonstrate that the rule as it stands is poorly thought out.

Not cool GOG, not cool.

As a frequent user (and an occasional contributor) of said thread, I can say only one thing - Shame on you!!!

joppo: It is amazing how Gog suddenly discovered that an almost 13-years old thread is against the CoC.

I get that it is their right. But do they really think this will make them more money in the long run? I think they have taken a controversial position for no actual advantage.
It wouldn't exactly be the first time GOG/CDPR have slapped their userbase in the face for no real reason, despite there being no real advantage in doing so. It's sad to see these threads being locked to suppress GOG users talking about other stores.

It feels like intentional mockery to me.
I don't have time or inclination to get worked up about it (especially not given what's going on in the world), but as previous users have said, Gog is really doing its best to destroy any remaining good will among long-time users.

Yes. Well it appears GOG has achieved one thing here. They have managed to unite the normally very split GOG community against them. So, yay for unity I guess?
I didn't understand why close the thread on Epic Games Store, but not the one on Steam or the one on Zoom.
I think that Epic Store Integrations inside Galaxy (GOG can have some profit from these offers) is gonna leave the closed-beta state very soon™, so it seems like a fairly logical step to close all non-gog deals threads here now ;)

Good going GOG, way to bring the community back together, we knew you had it in you! FFS, it isn't enough that they really stepped into it this time, they have to add insult to injury and roll around in it too. Nothing like doubling down on stupid decisions and rule with an iron fist by pushing rule enforcement way too fucking far.

Just fucking impressive, BRAVO!

SmollestLight: Our Forum Code of Conduct has been reworked in the recent years. This isn't about money, but simply following the Conduct and like the statement said, we agree with the reports received that it wouldn't be fair to keep these threads open.

fronzelneekburm: This one too.

SmollestLight is going on a rampage.

SmollestLight: It isn't a "rampage" I'm just closing all threads, that have been reported and are against COC. :)
If this sort of diligence existed in customer support I'd still be buying games here.

At this point CDP might as well sell the GOG catalog to Epic -- assuming they want it.
