Very suspicious change, this gives me hope that Fallout might return to GOG in a not too distant future. And of course it would be great to see Bethesda join GOG!

wouldnt mind a return but im sceptical. though a nice day 1 release of fallout 4 here..... I can dream lol
Publishers don't really 'join' GOG as much as decide that they're somewhat 'worthy' of their time.
Mostly though they just see $$$ in their eyes.
It would be nice if Bethesda decided to release some games here though.
Of course if they do they'll also feel its fair that people buy their games again, even if they own them somewhere else.

I'd just buy Morrowind and the Id Library again. (And hopefully they release Arena and Daggerfall for free here)

Don't care for getting Oblivion if it ever comes here.

Bethesda thinks GOG is worthy of hosting paid mods. Rejoice.
Could just be part of them finally redoing the naming of game titles, considering it's a mess right now.

Doesn't look like it would've been an issue for these titles though but who knows

The failure of pushing paid mods on Steam is probably the reason why they are making their own client because they lost their faith with their old buddy valve. So expect Paid Mods in "Bethesda.net?" What ever its going to be called.

Still:

PLEASE BETHESDA COME HERE YOU HAVE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PC GAMES THAT FITS WITH THE OLD SCHOOL LIBRARY OF GOG!!!

Elder Scrolls (The first 3)
Fallout (the first 2+ Tactics)
The Id Software games. (Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Hexen, Heretic)
The name change could be to distinguish them from the upcoming Fallout Anthology.

Although it'd still be weird to see GOG bothering to make changes for games which, officially, do not make part of its catalog now.
Bothering to make updates to games which are not sold anymore it's a bit confusing. Something is probably being prepared.
So I take it there are planned HD remakes of the first two games then? Only why else would the old games be labelled as the Classic versions?

I guess it would make sense for a re-release given the success of similar titles like Wasteland 2. But I think we all know that there are things that wouldn't make the cut in remade Fallout 1&2.

But the Anthology versions are unaltered and there's no chance of that being released on GOG.

The re-releases of Fallout 1 and 2 on Steam by Bthesda feature widescreen support, I'm not sure about other improvements. Might refer to that.

That's exactly the point.
As far as I know there will be no HD versions of the first 3 games. All the games will remain with the same code.

So why would GOG bother to change the names? Specially when there's (apparently) no chance for the games to be sold again.
And why this change at the same precise time when Bethesda and Id appear on GOG's publishers database?
It's fishy.

Didn't appear Bethesda among other Publishers during the last site overhaul?

Could be. But I would have thought that GOG would want those versions too. Or at the very least, there wouldn't be any point in releasing widescreen support separately.

If they made Bethesda releases separate to those already released and thus denied existing owners the widescreen support then that would be a very bad move on both GOG's and Betheda's part.

Um, the link you have posted shows that Bethesda's entry didn't appear during the site's overhaul, but recently.

"I also found those entries not too long ago, but looking up the site on the Wayback machine just after the site overhaul in September 2014, the entries for Konami, Microsoft, and Namco Bandai all appeared in the catalog back then, along with a bunch of other entries like the companies for the removed games... But Westwood Associates, the newer SSI entries, and Bethesda are definitely recent though, those appeared within the past few weeks"

Well, there are patches to allow widescreen support for the classic versions already. Maybe Bethesda made a deal with GOG which allows them to sell the slightly updated versions on here. Let's wait and see...
