Blackwell.. Here's my opinions on it a few months ago (which doesn't include the newest game... yet).

Point & click, mystery, puzzles... a little off-the-wall logic. Nothing too surprising, actually other than a few puzzles that required some confusing logic the games were rather easy to play, but i'd still recommend having a walkthrough in cases where you get lost as i don't really recall a hint system (other than the built in ones where the characters repeatedly go over again 'what was the password again Phil?').

I'd really recommend if you play the game(s), you beat each game in a single sitting rather than breaking, as then certain things like glowing business cards will be fresh in your mind to help you. Each game can probably be beat in 2-4 hours so it's not too long.
You should try Sanitarium.
I recommend the Trilby series (linked in release order):

Just forget what others said and play this one :-P
I vouch for Sanitarium too. You might try also System Shock (despite not being pixelart, the first one is so old, you can taste the pixels xD). This one is not exactly what you are asking for (detective, puzzles), but has a good futuristic story with a very dark atmosphere. It is worth a look.
Definitely Primordia.
Great puzzles and a fantastic, very sombre story.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
Weird, dark and about as depressing as it is brilliant.

DreamWeb
One of the most unusual adventure games ever. It's played from a top-down perspective (similar to Hotline Miami) and you're essentially playing a serial killer in a cyberpunk scenario. Also, it's free.

Some that might be interesting for you, but do not quite fit your requirements: Inherit the Earth (interesting mystery story in a post-apocalyptic future), The Dig (hopefully comes to GOG in the near future), Harvester (hideous FMV graphics, but it's a kind of genius satire of the violence-in-games controversy of the early 90s).
maybe Terraria? Though it's not that dark...
