teceem: It's physically impossible to raise the resolution of a pixel image. Scaling and interpolating can't add image information that was never there in the first place.
I would be surprised in this day and age that there is some kind of problem scaling it up and automatically filling in the blanks.
We have programs that can build 3d models from 2d pictures and all sorts of other programs to intelligently manipulate images.
In fact, you could take a 2d to 3d program and rebuild and rerender those type of games.

Darvond: Yeah, that's just what Myst and Riven looked like. They were made in the 1990s, so they're well over 20 years old. They were amazing for the time, but time has been less than kind to them. Which is why RealMyst and RealMyst ME were made.
I think they still hold up with the type of graphics, the interesting story and puzzles which work together and puts them ahead of, johnny come lately, walking simulators.

I agree that Myst hasn't aged well, but I think Riven still looks fantastic.

Fantastic sure, but for the longest time it was nigh impossible to play with any manner of enjoyment. (I'm not an advocate of fullscreen.)

For a game like Riven that's heresy!

:P
