XIII is now available again on GOG.COM!

The President of the United States of America has been assassinated and you're the world's prime suspect. The FBI, the CIA, and a gang of murderous killers are trying to hunt you down. Stricken with amnesia you remember nothing, not even who you are. You're on your own and there is no one you can trust. All you have is a safe deposit key, a mysterious tattoo, and a gun. Clear your name, solve the mystery, and catch the true assassin before he strikes again.

mrkgnao: When originally released on GOG, back in 2011, the game came with the following bonuses (goodies):
2 avatars, manual, soundtrack, 3 wallpapers

This re-release, at least according to the GOG game page, offers none of them.
Of course the re-release had to come regionally overpriced and with extras removed. :/
But removing the game manual?
Can't speak on the remainder of the other content, but Archive.org has the manual.

There is also a manual within the game installation folder. But it still would be really nice to have it back in the goodies section with the avatars, wallpapers and music :). Cheers

mrkgnao: The "Removed bonuses, now gone" entry can be found towards the middle/bottom of the "Galaxy-Free Downloadable Files" row, just above "Changelog" and "Latest Versions".
Really a shame how many extras have been removed from our library - and that was AFTER they PROMISED not to do this anymore (someone able to find that post?).
Imo someone should really research if this even is legal.

The fact the game is re-released again here is miracle enough. You can't even get it anywhere else legally. I wouldn't bother too much about some low quality goodies

Makes it even more baffling as to why it, at least, was just not added back as an included extra.

I could not care less about those goodies ... it is the fact that somebody takes something out of my libraray that is bothering me. It's the fact that GOG broke a promise they made that's bothering me. Those goodies were part of the original deal .... not matter how important they were - and if GOG is simply removing from your library whatever they want or are ordered to do ... nothing - maybe the game but nothting more - is safe anymore. THAT is bothering me.

One promise I remember from chandra:
"To clarify, we've never removed any content from users account's against their will and we never will. GOG is DRM-free and everything you purchased is yours and will stay yours, simple as that."

But removing the game manual?
Why not "fly overseas to another country" and "have a friend there get it"? ;)

As Post 114 states it is less the goodies themselves being lost that is the problem, and more that it goes against the GOG tenet/pillar of "you bought it, you keep it forever".

That is at the very least shady as heck and possibly(as he said) illegal for them to do for some customers.

It's a pity I didn't see it that back then, given that GOG has already removed more than a dozen bonuses from my library over the years.

So @chandra - could you please explain how this behaviour fits to your/GOGs promise?

It's true that it is easy to circumvent regional prices in most cases. The question remeains why it even have to exist - especially for classic games GOG promised us flat prices.

I'm guessing if we want gog to stay in business they have to make some compromises to get more devs onboard and keep them there and happy, sadly.

(Also it's "flying to another country". We don't wanna suggest anything against rules, now do we? ;))

It has probably something to do with database indexing and stuff. Since publishers have been swapped, maybe the old entries aren't compatible with the new ones hence no goodies with the rerelease. I might be wrong tho, maybe it is a publishing issue since the goodies were put up when Ubisoft was in charge. Legal stuff can get messy real fast ;). Cheers

That's why I always laugh when fanatics are very aggressive in their attempts to prove that they "own" everything that they "bought" on GOG.

And then BAM! Something disappears from the library. Again.

True.

At least in most cases they were extras and not games(if that's any comfort for some).
