Today, we bid farewell to the legendary post-apocalyptic 2D classics.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to pull the three classic Fallout games, that is Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, from sale and remove them from our DRM-free catalog. These classic titles have been with us since day one, that is for over 5 years now, and they were always one of the highlights of the selection of games that we offer. There are very few titles in the history of computer role-playing games, that have had so much impact on the gaming landscape, players' expectations, and even the popular culture. The iconic setting, the memorable quotes, and unparalleled amount of fun and challenge these games provide--it's all burned in the memory of a whole generation of gamers. Probably even more than just one generation. It was an honor to have you here, Fallout. Take good care of yourself out there, try not to mistake a gecko for G.E.C.K. (not even remotely the same thing!), and remember to take your Rad-X pills!

All those who acquired Fallout, Fallout 2, or Fallout Tactics on GOG.com prior to the date of removal (that is before Tuesday, December 31st 2013, at 3:59PM GMT), will still be able to download the games' install files (as well as the bonus content) via the "My Games" section of their user accounts. Gift-codes for these three games acquired in our recent giveaway are no longer valid. However, if you own a gift-code for any or all of them that was purchased outside of the said giveaway, you'll still be able to redeem it in the foreseeable future.

We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience this situation may have caused you. We invite you to browse through 671 other fantastic titles offered in our DRM-free catalog of the best games in history, and we wish you a Happy New Year of gaming!

Ormenelle: Unrelated, for the relations between Bethesda and Obsidian, they were less than cordial, as Bethesda outright tried to make them go under to avoid paying them, and Obsidian publicly stated that they would never work with them again.
First time I hear this. If accurate, it's very sad. Obsidian are a good company which reminds me of Black Isle in more than one way, including having 1.5mil of bugs in their games, but yet extremely fun. I loved New Vegas and I was hoping they would be in charge of Fallout 4. Now...I am not so sure what will happen with it. (quality wise)
Hmm, y'know, Bethesda is getting pretty close to being a Dev I don't buy games from. And I love their Fallout game, and The Elder Scrolls. But, when a company's business practices are as bad as theirs, I don't think they deserve my money.

wakinafuf: i'll just beat the shit out of any man i learn who works for them.
You'll beat the shit out of no one, you fucking dork.
Business. Business ... never changes ...

TL;DR version : Bethesda worded the deal in an ambiguous way to scam Obsidian of their royalties. Obsidian didn't and won't earn a single cent on FNV sales. And Bethesda did contractually keep the Q&A testing. And the game hits 84 Metacritics instead of 85 because of bugs, the deal with Obsidian is finalized, and, lo and behold, just after that a patch goes live that corrects almost everything.

Coincidence ? I think not.

( Yeah I know I'm exaggerating the effects. I love drama. )

This.
Agreed, why pull it from here? Maybe it was pressure from steam?

They had to, they lost the rights to sell them here.

pstrnutbag44: You don't end your posts with "Yours Truly"?

Disappointing!

JohnnyDollar: He he. You're the 2nd person here that has remarked about that, or was that you that I talked to about it before? I think it was during the Insomnia promo. :)
That means there are 3 of us that still know what that means!

Consider me slightly less disappointed.

totally this :-)

I *almost* have the same feeling for EA, with their business practices (especially SimCity 5's copy protection), but at least they were willing to strike a deal with GOG.
I'm definitely disappointed I missed picking up Fallout 2 and Tactics from here, unfortunately I just never got around to it. I might pick up a copy of the games on Amazon seeing that it does not seem too expensive, and I'd rather not have to go through Steam to play older games like these when they were available DRM free.

Was just wondering though, I like the bonus content that GOG provides for their games, so will I be missing out on anything special since I can not longer get them here? Or can most of the bonus stuff still be found elsewhere?

Lastly, if anyone has still working gift codes for these games and would like to work out some sort of deal for them, please PM me and let me know. Thanks.

Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventure will be removed very shortly (in process of removal, already got from Steam et al).
Iv'e been playing and enjoying games since the 80's. Why take away an income stream from a company who has made the installation of classics through the year so painless better to workout some agreement than to get precious with the digital rights..surely Beth you have enough money from your hugely successful Skyrim then to kick smaller companies who really embrace the concept of gaming for everyone and genuinely love games... I have a feeling this is a publisher issue and as usual the Devs have no part in the decision.. "Inheritance!"
just one thing...
fairly disappointed by the rights owners :(
Oh boy did I ever luck out picking these games up during the sale. Unbelievable that something like this would happen. I dunno who to blame. Either Valve (Steam) or Bethesda. Chances are, probably, both. Not fair to GoG at all. I love both Steam and Bethesda but not gonna lie, d*** move there.
